Our early spring beer is a light golden German style Pils. Brewed with traditional Cech Saaz Hops and a german Lager yeast, this a true German pilsner with a nice hop aroma and dry finish.

Midwest IPA

Brewed exclusively for Hawthorne Bottle Shoppe in St. Petersburg, FL., this refreshing Northeastern style India Pale Ale is brewed with Pineapples.

In Mary Shelley’s novel, a modern-day Prometheus combines disparate parts to create something uncontrollable, destructive and misunderstood. Lucky for you (and our team) that brewing is much more predictable and manageable, especially in our new state-of-the-art brewery in Hampton, NH. The India-style Pale Lager is a new hybrid-style of beer that’s begun surfacing throughout the craft brewing nations of the world. Frankenlager is Smuttynose’s presentation of a double IPA mashed and fermented like the classic lagers of Europe. Crisp and refined, but certainly not meek or mild, Frankenlager is one the first beers brewed in our new home and we’re excited to present it to the world.

This Imperial Belgian chocolate stout was brewed with French cocoa, Belgian Trappist yeast, and plenty of attitude. Frankie Clause is layered with notes of banana, cocoa, dried red fruit, and roasted almonds creating a very smooth 11.8% stout that leaves soft warming finish.

A velvety, roasted and robust oyster stout. The use of poblano and chipotle pepper, as well as fresh Florida lemon peel, interplay with a delicate French Strisselspalt hop aroma to create a sweet, sessionable stout.

Our lager, made with an all malt recipe is a Bohemian – style pilsener beer. It contains gentle bitterness, soft maltiness and is hopped true to style with Czech Saaz hops. This clear golden beer style which utilizes bottom fermenting yeast was developed in 1842 in the town of Pilsen at a time when all other beers were cloudy.

Franklin’s Crossing India Pale Ale is brewed for the hop head. We use a generous amount of malted barley to support an abundant amount of hops. After fermentation we dry hop every batch. We put 10lbs of whole leaf Cascade hops in the fermenter and soak the hops for two weeks. The result is a beer that finishes neat and clean.

Franz is our Oktoberfest beer. He’s an autumnal brew, a bit of a dreamer, often hikes in the Alps and comes back with great ideas for delicious malts and is forever hoisting barrels over his head for ’ze exercize’. Franz is our Oktoberfest brau, and our first take on a German brew. Not traditional, but über German. These malts will PUMP you UP, jaaah!

Fraoch celebrates 20 years of brewing with this very special limited edition. This 11% alc/vol, triple version; matured in ex-sherry casks previously used to mature single malt Speyside whiskey for 20 years. Brewed as an 11% Fraoch Heather Ale then secondary fermented in ex sherry/malt whisky casks giving a champagne/lambic conditioning which gives it bright green apple high notes and rich caramel tones. The aroma and finish are of sherry wood with heather and peat flavours.

An India Pale Ale brewed with three different kinds of hops giving a well balanced flavor with hints of citrus and a nice hoppy finish. This may not be for the lighter pallet, but for those with a fortified pallet pledge the Fraternity Of Hops, because once it hits your lips it's so good!

Keeping with the Cahaba theme, Fraxinus is named after the genus of the Ash tree, which is a common species along our beautiful Cahaba River. Fraxinus is an amazing Double IPA. By using a technique called "Hop Bursting," we are able to create a beer that has 120 calculated IBUs. However, you’ll find it is anything but bitter. Fraxinus is a well balanced Double IPA with a solid malt backbone and complex hop aromas.

Freakadella, lovingly named after one of our brewers, is a medium bodied amber ale that perfectly blends caramel and nutty malt flavors with floral and citrus aroma hops. This intricate ale finishes nice and clean, leading you to continue exploring its complexities with each sip.

Look, we didn't know much about Denmark. So to avoid any cultural faux pas when Beer Here came to visit we did some research. Turns out there are lots of things that bring our Danish friend and Moon Dog together: - Great Danes are dogs - Traditional dish is the open sandwich, and we love all sandwiches- open or closed - The Little Mermaid (don't know about the book but it's a pretty rad cartoon) - Prince Frederik is quite dapper and so are we So with all that in mind, we made a beer that reflected each of our individual cultures. Kind of. Well, not at all. But we did make an extremely funky dark farmhouse ale with a crap-load of different cereals and not a lot of bitterness. It's weird. And it's wonderful.

Belgian Tripel style ale. Light in color and brewed with a larger amount of American hops than a traditional tripel.

We love hops at Wicked Weed. This Double IPA was brewed with some brand new and experimental hops from the American Dwarf Hop Association. Jarrylo, hop #484, and hop #871 create a hugely aromatic IPA.
