Gluten for Punishment Cream Ale

We've had a lot of requests for a gluten free beer. So many, in fact, that we decided to develop a recipe to quench the thirst of those that can't have gluten. This beer used buckwheat that was malted in-house, rice syrup, honey and Cascade hops.

Gluten FREEk

Gluten FREEk is Asheville’s first gluten reduced beer. Crafted for those with a gluten intolerance who are sick of drinking beer that doesn’t taste like beer, Freek was brewed with loads of hops and a similar grain bill to Freak of Nature DIPA. This ale is designed to be big, hoppy, and uniquely Wicked Weed. Gluten FREEk contains less than 10ppm of gluten.

Glutiny Pale Ale

There’s an uprising in the craft beer world, a mutiny on gluten, and the movement’s invaded our brewhouse, demanding we finally brew an uncompromised gluten-reduced pale ale fit for the most adventurous hopheads. Our response? This is Glutiny! For this new year-round release, we armed the beer with a hefty dose of exotic Equinox hops, lending breezy guava, papaya and stone fruits to a wash of sweet, slightly herbal malt flavors. We then employed a special enzyme during the brewing process, which breaks down the gluten. Like any delicious pale ale, expect swift bitterness in the swallow and an assertively dry finish, just how we like it. Ready to join the uprising? Taste the Glutiny. GNOMAD

The Gnomad is a true hybrid of brewing styles; resulting in a beer we call an American Farmhouse Ale. We blend several varieties of barley, wheat and oats to give it a complex malt character; add American hops to provide a touch of fruit and citrus to the beer, and mix that with our special blend of Belgian yeasts to give it a rustic, earthy, spicy flavor. It pours a pale gold color with a thick white head and has a high amount of carbonation. Even at 7.5% ABV this beer is still refreshing and well balanced. Take your own journey with our Gnomad.

Gnome Pale Ale - GPA

Floral Herbal Pale Ale This ale starts out with a light base of primarily Organic (OG) Pilsner malt with a bit of OG Biscuit malt, and a smidgen of roast malt to give a light orange color. The spices (a little bit of cardamom) it's brewed with give very slight heat and depth of flavor complexity. The flowers (Egyptian rose) add a slight floral/fruity nose and flavor. The hops (OG Citra) add a fine citrus note, which combines with the rose to stimulate the eighth sense (the gnome sense). It is then fermented with and OG Belgian Wit yeast which finishes the flavor and aesthetic profile with some cloudiness and yeast ester flavors. A gnome's top choice for sipping in a spring meadow.

Gnomegeddon

Gnomegeddon begins it’s journey as Gnommegang. After fermentation, the beer is dosed with the wild yeast Brettanomyces Bruxellensis and allowed to slowly bottle condition over several months. Pours a light orange color with a firm white head and slight haziness. Aromas of tropical fruit, sweet cherry, and a hint of cinnamon lead followed by mild hints of barnyard funk. Flavors of ripe fruit, sweet malt, and light caramel lead, giving way to a moderately dry finish with a slight lingering sweetness. Medium bodied and incredibly smooth and drinkable despite the relatively high ABV.

GNT - Wintry Mix

The follow-up to the 2007 release of Gran’dad’s Nerve Tonic, a collaboration between Junk Science and Sixpoint. The Wintry Mix, however, is a reinterpretation of the original GNT, emerging as the “first true taste of spring.” This beer is an American IPA, black at first glance, but stirring with energy and activity underneath. Primarily fermented with California ale yeast, but then a secondary Belgian ale strain was added halfway through. Spiced with a little bit of bee pollen at the end, you will definitely taste some pine and resin stirring underneath all of that darkness.
