Halloween Ale

Every fall marks the return of our legendary Extra Special Bitter for the season, Halloween Ale – the beer so good, it's scary! From its humble beginnings in 1990 as a small-batch seasonal in our Portland Brew Pub, Halloween Ale has grown to be one of the year's most anticipated beer releases. This robust brew has a deep amber color, a bold, malty palate and a well-rounded hop finish. The perfect beer for a crisp autumn day! Halloween Ale is available in ominous six-packs, and on draft at frightening establishments all over the terrifying state of Maine. Be afraid, be very afraid...of running out!

Halo of Saturn

The keenly awaited follow-up to Rocket Science Galactic Ale is Halo of Saturn. This Double IPA is dubbed ‘Hop Behemoth’ due to its somewhat excessive hopping regime of Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial & Galaxy hops. Six separate hop additions throughout the brewing process – including dry hopping – contribute to the result. Brewed with a blend of specialty malts, Halo of Saturn delivers a combo of spicy orange zest, grapefruit, herbs and pine notes on the nose. Beneath the ‘hop haze’ the palate is full and rich with hop bitterness beautifully balanced by weight from the massive grain bill and 8% ABV.

Halucidation Solera

Blend of 2012 (strong Belgian and pinot noir) and 2013 (strong Belgian and Frontenac gris) versions of Halucidation. What is HALUCIDATION? We approach our craft with open minds in an attempt to surround ourselves with auras of flavor. We do this with the intent of adventure, embracing what comes out on the other side for its own properties. A class unto itself, beyond ingredients, a journey: the experimental. If you’re willing, we’d like to share our exploration of the grape with you now. HALUCIDATION is a collaboration with Parley Lakes Winery and is a unique beer/wine hybrid. We selected Minnesota native Frotenac Gris grapes for their apricot, and tropical fruit character to balance with the peppery esters of the a high alcohol Belgian-style ale.

Hammarby Syndrome

You’ve heard of Stockholm Syndrome, but these days we’re starting to feel the ef fects of a once-rare condition - Hammarby Syndrome. If you’ve never heard of it, we can’t blame you. But it’s right here in the New Brooklyn Dictionary: “Hammarby Syndrome is the distress or impairment caused by the frenzied anticipation and giddy obsession over the beautiful Hammarby Sjöstad section of Stockholm, Sweden and the New Carnegie Brewer y that Brooklyn Brewer y will open there in March. The cognitive hallmark of Hammarby Syndrome is preoccupying thoughts of Hammarby and New Carnegie Brewer y’s delicious new beers. Sufferers typically report a combination of depressive and anxious symptoms, withdrawn behavior and difficulty focusing on topics unrelated to Hammarby Sjöstad. Other symptoms include dry mouth and deep thirst.” Now there’s good news - we can help you! Our new Brewmaster’s Reservebeer is Hammarby Syndrome, a robust ale that will transport you directly to the seaside of old Stockholm. It’s brewed from a large proportion of spelt, an ancient wheat-like grain that was once a mainstay of Scandinavian beers. To the spelt’s distinctively nutty flavor, we’ve added another old Swedish beer ingredient - spruce fronds. They add a tasty citrusy pine note to a full-bodied, lightly fruity strong ale that’ll keep you warm until the spring sunshine comes to the rescue. More importantly, it’s great with hearty cold-weather food, and it’ll make you feel like you’re in Hammarby until you can come visit us there yourself.

Hampden On Rye

A collaboration between two Maryland breweries (Union Craft, Brewer’s Art) that was originally brewed for Hampdenfest 2012, then again with just Brewer’s Art in 2013. This rye pale ale brewed at the Union facility uses yeast from Resurrection, Brewer’s Art’s flagship beer. The spiciness of the generous addition of both rye and cara-rye malt plays beautifully with the unique Belgian yeast to make a wonderfully delicious brew. Hopped with centennial hops along with some of Union’s favorite varieties, “Hampden on Rye” showcases a floral and citrus nose that welcomes you into the earthy, rye-flavored body that will leave you wanting more.
