Guten Hoppy

German Brewers in the Dusseldorf region brew an ale twice a year called an Alt. Once in a while they would add more hops or more alcohol content, depending on the season, and call it Sticke Alt, or secret alt. Sticke Alts were reserved for very special guests to the brewery. The Livery's Sticke Alt is made with 100% German Malts and liberally dry hopped with German Tettnanger and Hallertauer hops.

Gypsy Ale

Inspired by the exuberance of the Romani Gypsy culture, Telegraph Gypsy Ale celebrates the restless and adventurous spirit in all of us. We brew it with rye, unmalted wheat, and locally grown plums. Then we ferment it with Brettanomyces while listening to traditional Gypsy tunes. It's wild, it's unique, it's delicious. So go ahead, stray from that well-trodden ground you are following, grab a bottle, and dance along a crooked path. Opa!

Gypsy Collaboration Dubbel Coffee Porter

Christine celis, daughter of world-renowned Belgian brewmaster Pierre Celis, along with Uncle Billy's Brewery and Austin Java, introduce the world's first dubbel coffee porter. True to the gypsy tradition, this unique beer is crafted in small batches that will last only a short while. This beautifully rich beer features dark caramel malt and a distinctly Belgian dubbel yeast. The effect is a robust yet smooth, deep chestnut-colored porter with demure chocolate undertones from the infusion of organic, cold-pressed Guatemalan and Peruvian coffees. Get it while you can.

Gypsy Queen – Chile' Beer

The Gypsy Queen name was inspired by Dayton’s early history of Gypsy culture that originated with King Levi Mosley and his wife Queen Matilda Joles Stanley who came to the United States in 1856. Originally settling in the Troy area they shortly moved to Dayton to establish their headquarters. Queen Matilda was well known for telling fortunes and had remarkable powers as a mesmerist, both qualities that were handed down to her as the eldest daughter in the Stanley family, and were secrets possessed by her alone. She was described as a "plain, hardy-looking woman” with a manner indicative of a strong and pronounced character. The Gypsy Queen, Matilda died in January 1878 after an illness of two years, and her body was embalmed so that it was said to "retain the natural aspect of life." It was placed in the Woodland receiving vault in Dayton. This chile beer is reddish-brown in color with copper highlights and has a mildly smoky finish with a medium body and caramel malt highlights. The hop character is very mild with just enough bitterness to balance the beer. Made with Ancho and Serrano chiles which provide an aroma of chiles and a mild heat index which builds on the palate as you drink the beer.

Gypsy Tart

Gypsy Tart is a Flanders-style brown ale with a California touch. A beer that can trace it’s origins to Great Britain, but more famously perfected in western Belgium, has been updated through our own modern techniques, delivering the sweet body and mildly tart finish that has won over numerous generations of beer drinkers in Europe. Our rendition of this wonderful beer style is perfect for both sour beer amateurs and advocates alike.

H&D Fire Captain Irish Red

Our H&D Fire Captain Irish Red Ale is an tribute to the work our local firefighters do and to the tradition of Irish red ales. Leaning heavily toward the sweet biscuity flavors of malt, this red is true to H&D balance. Hope bitterness is smooth, noble in character, but not overpowering. Body is full and fulfilling. For each pint sold in our taproom we donate $1 to the Firefighter Community Compassion Fund. The FCCF provides each engine in PFA with a petty cash card to provide immediate assistance to families responders realize are in need. H2P

H2P is a revamped iteration of the HTP IPA we have done in the past. For H2P this year I changed the recipe from the two previous batches, along with the hops and hop schedule. The past two batches featured Zythos and 7 C's opposite Simcoe. This year and in the future, it will be a single-hop Simcoe IPA. Since it's technically a different beer, but the soul of it is still the same, we are going to call this H2P going forward. As a former Pitt student, I know the Pitt faithful use HTP and H2P interchangeably, so it seemed fitting to change the "T" to a "2" for version 2.0. Inspired by the IPAs I fell in love with in California and deepened my college experience in South Oakland, H2P is a 8.0% west coast-style IPA brewed with four kinds of malted barley and a ridiculous amount of Simcoe hops with five kettle additions and two dry hops. The nose of the beer is rich in pine and fruit notes, with hints passion fruit, apricot, along with woodsy and floral undertones. Medium bodied, this beer starts with a mildly bitter taste that gives way to the pine and fruit notes found in the nose on the back end. H2P is a bright and crisp IPA that was designed to be highly drinkable, exceedingly flavorful and aromatic, but without being abrasively bitter. As production allows, we hope to continue to provide this beer to the Pittsburgh market and the Pitt faithful each year for Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week.
