Hometown Blonde

Hometown Blonde Embrace a classic! Hometown Blonde is an Old World style pilsner, assertively hopped with four premium hop varieties. Tettnanger, Saaz, Styrian Golding and Strisselpalt varieties all grace this German-style brew with the complex character you enjoy in a classic pilsner. Expect to pour an elegant blonde glass of beer, crowned with a rich head of foam that resonates with our chorus of hops. Although delicate in appearance, our Hometown Blonde has a backbone, but of course in Wisconsin that is no surprise.

Homewrecker

Homewrecker is a double strength India Pale Ale, meaning hop bitterness, flavor and aroma take center stage, with plenty of malt character to support it. Brewed with over half a ton of pale, wheat and caramel malts, we then add nearly 30 lbs of hops to make one 7 barrel batch. American Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial and Cascade are added at 6 different points in the boil. Then we strain the hot unfermented ber through raw hops to further extract flavor and aroma. Be careful though, we pushed this one past 10 percent alcohol, so if you start to hallucinate, quickly chug a Michelob Ultra to sober up.

Hommel’s Where The Heart Is

Hoppy Michigan Ale Our take on a hoppy, Belgian-esque ale brewed with all local Michigan hops (Black Creek Hops), Michigan malted barley (Michigan Malt Co), a native Michigan yeast harvested from the Upper Peninsula (Craft Cultures) and South Lyon water. This beautiful ale is 100% Michigan! Hoppy, complex and wonderfully balanced to showcase just how spectacular Michigan beer agriculture has become.

Honey & Basil Ale

For a 3 barrel (93 gallon) batch, 60 pounds of honey from the Catskills is added at the beginning of the boil, and a bit of local organic basil (sourced from my wife’s Seedsower Farm and/or Makinajian Farm in Huntington) is chopped up and added at the last 15 minutes of the boil. (The recipe is available here for any home brewers who might want to give this a try.) An earthy and floral ale. This beer is part of Blind Bat’s Farm-and-Garden series of beers using local ingredients.
