Southern Hemisphere Harvest

Our newest addition to our Harvest family is Southern Hemisphere Harvest. This is the first time we know of that an American brewer has put out a beer with fresh-picked hops from the southern hemisphere. The inaugural ale will debut in late April and will feature fresh Pacific Hallertau, New Zealand Motueka and New Zealand Southern Cross hops, all from New Zealand. Like our Celebration Ale, the fresh hops in this beer are dried right after being picked then shipped immediately to Chico for brewing so that they retain their peak aromatics and flavors. To ensure the freshest hops possible, we went to the added expense of flying these hops from New Zealand to Chico so we could brew with them the week after they were picked.

Southern Hops’pitality

Southern Hops’pitality is our offering of delicious cheer to Lazy Magnolia’s loyal fans all over the Southeast. A traditional IPA at its core, we have built Southern complexity into this new brew. The aroma is a bold citrus burst on the front end with hints of tropical fruits such as grapefruit, orange and mango in the finish. Lazy Magnolia’s brewers used a unique hop blend for an exciting dry-hoped aroma. Southern Hops’pitality has a Light Straw color and crisp, smooth finish on the palate. With an alcohol content right at the 6% ABV limit and a very hoppy 60 IBUs, Southern Hops’pitality is breaking new ground for Lazy Magnolia and the Magnolia State.

Southern Lands

Southern Lands is our third in the series of 100% Brett Trois fermented beers. A super-juicy take on a traditional IPA with an intense pineapple character. We gave it a big dose of Centennial & Calypso hops, so it sports a big tropical/grapefruity hop nose and flavor. Why isn't it sour/musty/horse blankety?

Southern Pecan

Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

Southern Style

It seems almost every craft brewery is offering an American Pale Ale these days but none offer it with a taste of the South. Not quite hopped to the point where it’s an IPA, not quite mellow enough to qualify as just any old Pale Ale.Expect crisp, hoppy notes with a floral aroma riding a smooth and refreshing malty backbone. It’s designed to be enjoyed with good conversation.

Southern Tier Tripel

Don't let Tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, we introduce the freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, we add the best hops shipped directly from Europe. Third, our special yeast is the catalyst for fermentations, gobbling sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it triple to denote it's high alcohol content. Still others believe triple's origins lay in its triple fermentations; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, ours is the Tripel threat.

Southern Torrent

A rich, golden colored ale with a thick, white head. It finishes crisp and dry with hints of pear, citrus and apple in the aroma. Uncharacteristically low fermentation temperatures bring out the floral and funky aromas from our unique Belgian yeast strain. Mingled with citrus and earthy aromas from late noble hop additions, we have created a beer custom made to satisfy during the hot DC summers.

Southside Rye IPA

This American-style IPA substitutes a portion of the barley malt bill with rye, 15% in ours. IPA being a hop forward style, this beer has strong notes of red grapefruit, orange marmalade and pine. SPA (Summer Pale Ale)

Summer Pale Ale is our version of the iconic West Coast-style Pale Ale. Our brewer’s decided this beer should be all about the hops. Therefore, we brew it without any crystal malt. In choosing to brew a beer this way, we are left to focus solely on the expressive nature of the hops they choose for this beer.
