Switchback AMBer

Inspired by all of the straight roads and trails of the High Country. The trail might seem longer and more difficult to navigate, but to the seasoned vet, switchbacks save years on your knees. This crisp, classic amber ale has a complex malty backbone, complemented by a mild hop character.

Switchback Porter

Like all of Switchback Brewing Company’s beers, the porter is unfiltered and 100% naturally carbonated. Switchback has put its own unique stamp on the porter style, creating a bold and full flavored porter with the balanced smoothness to the finish for which Switchback beers are known. A unique blend of roasted malt, caramel malts, and flaked barley are used to create the luscious malt signature, and the very non-traditional use of Simcoe hops as the only hop variety for both bittering and aroma is used to delicately balance the overall flavor profile. The result is an eminently satisfying brew that will leave you wanting another.

Switchback Stout

A boastful body is the only way to describe our stout. Oats added to the grist in the mash tun accentuate the dark chocolate and caramel malts and provide smoothness by subduing the harsh and bitter characters of large amounts of roasted and black malts used to achieve the opaque color and complex character of the stout beer. Not to be taken lightly, our stout beer is bold and rich but oh so velvet smooth and further enhanced with a soft texture finish. Its Andra’s personal favorite! And she quality controls every batch.

Swizzle Stick

Another rad collaboration with Eureka! Over a year in the works, we brewed our 1234 Broad St base and then tossed it into Corsair Spiced Rum barrels to age on vanilla beans for over a year. Once we racked it out of the barrel we dry "hopped" it with tons of fresh mint leaves before bottling. This big, boozy, funky, tart and bright wild ale will really take you by surprise. The malty, oaky, background opens up to bright citrus and vanilla finishing with an explosion of fresh mint to clean your pallet and immediately yearn for more.

Sword Iron Swan

Our newest canned offering is a tribute to the song that first introduced us to a packaging hall favorite, The Sword. Iron Swan pours a deep copper color and has an enticing intro of fruit and caramel with subtle hints of earth and spice. This medium bodied ale showcases the fruitiness of our house ale strain, along with the rich toffee flavors of English crystal malt. Added complexity is provided by generous amounts of English hops. Iron Swan finishes slightly dry with a mild spiciness that beckons another can. Fire up your turntable and audition Iron Swan yourself.

Syd Strongs

We were asked by BrewDog Camden to collaborate with them on a beer for Collab Fest; an annual event when BrewDog bars choose a local brewery to work with on producing a beer. We wanted to go dark because of Camden’s association (at least for us) with Goths. The guys at Camden wanted to add a bit of spicy rye malt and the result is Syd Strong’s a black IPA brewed with rye malt and U.S. hops. We named the beer after an old barber’s shop that used to be on Camden High Street when Sam and Graham were in their pomp (a long time ago). Amazingly our graphic designer Francis managed to find an old picture online showing the front of the shop. Even more amazingly the owner of the website kindly allowed us to use the image on our label. The website is an amazing archive of vintage photos of London taken by John Sweetland who’s son David now blogs about London using his Dad’s photos as a starting point. It’s well worth looking at.

Sykophantes

In ancient Greece, “showing the fig” was a vulgar hand gesture, and Sykophantes means “one who shows the fig”. Earthy and full of dark fruit flavor from hundreds of pounds of figs and dark candy syrup, but with a sourness that cuts the gentle sweetness, Sykophantes is our fall beer.

Syndicate 01

Syndicate No. 01 is a blend of strong ales matured in American bourbon barrels ranging from 12 to 24 months. The base of the blend is our Old Godfather Barleywine (51%) which was aged in bourbon barrels for over 2 years. Two different Imperial Stouts, Black Hand Volume I (15%) and Two Minutes to Midnight (14%) introduce rich dark chocolate notes and a creamy mouthfeel. Final additions of barrel- aged Betrayal Imperial Red (11%) adds notes of dark fruit and toffee malt, Double Daddy (5%) imparts a bright, fruit-forward hop spice and Payback Porter (3%) introduces subtle notes of bitter cocoa. The final blend is rich with aromas of bourbon, vanilla bean and dark fruit, with complex flavors of burnt caramel, leather & spice, coconut, and toasted oak.

Syndicate No. 02

Syndicate No. 02 is a blend of five strong ales matured between 15-28 months in various bourbon barrels. The foundation of the blend is comprised of three distinct imperial stouts: Black Hand Volume 1 (38% of blend) imparts a smooth, creamy mouthfeel, Scarface Imperial Stout (25% of blend) provides hints of espresso and bitter roast, and Two Minutes to Midnight (14% of blend), a brew reserved exclusively for barrel-aging, is rich with baker’s cocoa. The muscle of the blend, Old Godfather Barley Wine (20% of blend), adds an earthy tobacco and nutty maltiness. The last 3% of the Syndicate is finished with a wildcard—a dark, oak-forward experimental ale pulled from our vault. The final brew is full-bodied and complex with notes of bitter cocoa, candied fruits, vanilla-infused creme brûlée, earthy tobacco, and a muted bourbon finish.

Szech 'n Brett

Fisherman enjoy a beverage while casting away. Weather fishing or imbibing, there are limits, whether it be a 5 leader or 5 liters. Saisons were brewed back in the day for farm workers with a 5 liter daily limit, a satiating standard that would allow for ample thirst quenching in any condition while still being able to complete the task at hand, both then and now. Our session-style Szechuan Brett was designed to do just that. whether farming or fishing, a little lighter beer extends the limit, a little pepper spice provides a little more character without over doing. What ever your limit is, enjoy our Czech 'n Brett, have a good catch, we do!
