Old Main Golden Ale

Old Main Golden Ale is our lightest, most easy-drinking ale. In fact, it’s so popular with non-craft-beer drinkers that we now call it “OMG Ale!” OMG is more malty than a mass-produced American lager, with a slightly bigger mouthfeel and a richer, golden hue. It is also more hoppy, issuing forth white wine-like notes of spice, flowers, citrus, and gooseberry.

Old Marley Barleywine

This traditional American Ale blends copious amounts of five different malts and various English and American hops to yield a rich and flavorful brew. We age our Barleywine in oak bourbon- casks to add vanilla and smoky notes, then blend these flavors into a full-blown sensory experience to enjoy on a cold winter's eve. Old Marley Barleywine is extremely complex and full-bodied in flavor. The drinker will be rewarded by first letting a small amount warm in a brandy snifter , then sipping it, similar to a fine sherry. Old Marley 2006 is in the tanks now. Old Monkeyshine

Our Old Monkeyshine Ale is an exceptional example of a true, traditional-style English Pub beer. Nimbus Old Monkeyshine Ale is medium bodied and possesses a distinct, dark roasted flavor. Its sweet malty taste is derived from liberal use of seven varieties of specialty malts and a touch of brown sugar. Our Old Monkeyshine Ale is dark in color, beginning with a slight caramel malt overtone and rounded with a relatively dry finish from its English Kent Goldings hops. The hops aroma is mildly subdued and the bitterness is just enough to balance the profile of this beer. Nimbus Old Monkeyshine Ale is a true premium ale and is priced accordingly. We're so proud of this beer for its body, taste, alcohol content and drinking enjoyment, it may just become our signature beer. Be warned: its wonderful malty sweetness camouflages the 8.0% alcohol by volume content. It's a winner!

Old No. 56

An American Light Lager? That's not craft beer! Eh, we still like to drink it. Named after the fire truck the city of Lucan bought in 1956, this crisp light lager is for hot days, cold days, and every day in between. And don't worry, we utilize 100% Pilsner malt and Sterling hops, thus keeping our beer-geek cred intact. Now if we could just hook up the lagering tank to that old pumper...

Old Prospector Barleywine

Rich and vibrant this Brewer's Private Reserve has been cool-aged in Zinfandel barrels acquired from our favorite local Placer County Wineries. With over 6 months of aging this "wine-strength" ale has been greatly enhanced by its long slumbering contact with the Zinfandel soaked barrels. A bouquet of soft oak, plumb and raisin give way to a peppery Zin profile which balances nicely with complex malt and a gentle hop presence. If you can find the willpower, cellar this unique Ale as it will continue to mature and reward.

Old School

Sometimes you've just got to take it back to where it all began. And we took it way back with this offering. Old School is a British-style pale ale brewed with organic malts for an easy-drinking yet full-bodied character. The real darling of Old School, though, is in the hops. We went back and dug up some East Kent Goldings, traditionally used in all ales of British origin with a floral nose and an earthy, spicy, slightly sweet flavor. From start to finish, this is great beer for celebrating the good times: past, preset, and future.

Old Strong Ale

Old Strong Ale is brewed from selected barley malt, sugar and hops. Old Strong Ale is a beer brewed in collaboration with The Old Town in Aarhus. The Old Town Brewer Guild make their own malting and brewing on a small plant in the basement of the brewery in Aalborg farm. The malt is produced, dried over an open fire in a 500 year old "club" (bulging of the chimney with a floor of porous brick). The smoke from the open fire gives the malt a slightly smoky flavor. A bit of this malt used in the brewing of Aarhus Brewery Old Strong Ale. Aarhus Brewery Old Strong Ale is a golden, majestic beer, spiced with classic English hops. Over yeast with humlerne, the large amount of malt, including malt from the Old City, provides a force for beer that blends sweetness, bitterness and a stræjf of smoke into a perfect harmony. The recipe is based on old handwritten notes on gammeltøl and landøl from Vendsyssel, originally collected by the brewer on Vendia in Hjørring.

Old Toby Porter

The Beer: Like home cooking, the Old Toby Porter is familiar and approachable. The aromas of coffee and roasted malts fill the nose on the first sip of this subtly sweet porter. The robust flavors are present, but not alarming. A relaxing pint to soothe the soul. The Story: “9 miles over a high mountain steep & almost inaxcessible much falling timber which fatigues our men & horses exceedingly, in stepping over so great a number of logs added to the steep assents and [descents] of the mountains . . . rained and snowed & hailed the greater part of the day all wet and cold” – Capt. Clark, September 14, 1805 Old Toby or Pikee Queenah (Swooping Eagle) led the Corps of Discovery on this extremely difficult portion of their journey toward the Pacific Ocean. The departure point for this portion of the Expedition was Travelers’ Rest, which is located 1/2 mile south of the Lolo Peak Brewing Company. He led the Expedition over the jagged and rough Bitterroot Range to the Clearwater country of present-day Idaho where they met up with the Nez Perce people. Unfortunately, Old Toby’s essential assistance to the Lewis & Clark Expedition is largely forgotten in popular history.

“Not your Dad’s Wimpy 30 Weight is how our original label used to describe this massive chewy and thick beer. Code named by our brewers-”The Big Black Nasty,” this is monstrous dark ale is brewed to no particular style. Thick and sludgy like oil from the crankcase of a wheat threshing combine, Old Viscosity blurs the boundaries of Porter, Stout, Old Ale and Barleywines. A blended beer that mixes old and new brewing traditions into one finished beer, Old Viscosity starts out with 80% of the packaged beer produced from a stainless steel fermentation. It then joins another 20% Old Viscosity (from a previous batch) that has been aging in bourbon barrels. This is our perennial summer seasonal beer, first brewed in Summer 1995 when we opened. Affectionately called "Spunky and Chunky", Old Whiskers Hefeweizen is a traditional Bavarian-style unfiltered wheat beer.
