Urkontinent

Urkontinent is a social collaboration of worldwide proportions. The seed was planted when Dogfish Head asked beer-‐loving tech types around the globe to suggest ingredients for a new off-‐centered ale. A small team from the brewery (and a few of our beer-‐loving tech friends) then narrowed the list to five: wattleseed from Australia, toasted amaranth from South America, rooibos tea from Africa, myrica gale from Europe and honey from the United States. The name Urkontinent, a German word for the theory that all of the continents were once connected, is a shoutout to the worldly recipe and ideas that make up this beer. The careful combination of ingredients gives this Belgian dubbel complex coffee and chocolate-covered cherry notes. “Urkontinent is a valentine to boot-‐strapping creative entrepreneurs in all kinds of industries all over the world,” says Dogfish Head Founder and President Sam Calagione.

Uror Gose

This historic sour German wheat beer is spiced with salt and coriander. It has a refreshing, tart and lactic character, with a crisp and slightly dry finish. The salt is very balanced and works well with the natural sour mash. Cloudy straw color with hints of tart pineapple, lemon rind and a mild bready yeast quality.

Ursa Minor

Dark as squid ink and moody as the sea, Ursa Minor is our take on a winter wheat beer. Starting with a German wheat-beer yeast and a base of malted wheat, we added a blend of dark crystal and roasted malts to create a wheat stout. Redolent of dark fruit, weizen yeast esters, and roasted barley, Ursa Minor is perfect for an icy winter’s eve.

Ursus Spelaeus

Named for a long extinct Russian Cave Bear, Ursus Spelaeus is as deep and dark as the caves its namesake inhabited. Spelaeus has thick, rich maltiness with notes of chocolate, coffee, toffee, and subtle licorice in the nose and on the tongue with just enough hops to keep it balanced. The Belgian yeast strain adds touches of fruit, herbs, and spices.

Us & Them IPA - Unchained 21

Brewer Gabe Smoley’s Unchained 21: Us & Them is a truly unique craft beer exploration. Gabe has deconstructed the mash of Summit's popular Sága IPA recipe into two unique “threads” to forge two distinct beers: a hoppy and intense American IPA and a complex, but subtle Session IPA. This unique brewing experience explores the two extreme flavor profiles and drinking differences you can discover in one package from one, original beer recipe. Which beer do you think is “Us” and which beer is “Them”? Which brew defines you? Offered in 6 packs that include three bottles of each brew. Also available on draught.

Uskratch Maibock

Despite its rich and malty character, the Maibock retains the crisp clean qualities of a lager beer. It has a subtle honey and pine nose, spicy/sweet palate, and dry finish. Since Arbor Brewing Company founder Matt Greff did his foreign study in Germany, we celebrate each season with the release of a new German beer. Maibock and Hefeweizen herald Spring, Pilsner comes out in the summer, Oktoberfest marks the fall fest season, and the Dopplebock arrives every year in time for the Thanksgiving break. And yes, we realize that Uskratch is not a German word. Uskratch Maibock—get it?

Utebier

Warmer weather is drawing near, and Legend Brewing Co. is releasing a new ale to revel in the spring season. For this season’s release, Legend married its enthusiasm for classical beer styles and modernized approach to brewing to create the Legend Ütebier. The name Ütebier mirrors the Norwegian Ütepils, but is infused with German character. The Norwegian-style Ütepils loosely translates to “the first beer you have outside on a sunny day.” We decided to rejuvenate this style to create a unique Ale for the coming of spring. Ütebier pours a deep orange color and the mouthfeel is very crisp. Honey malts evoke a delicate sweetness, which is balanced out by the subtle hop bite. Additional Amarillo hops are added towards the end of the boil to bring out a light, tropical aroma. Available mid February.

Vacationland Summer Ale

You can't put summer in a bottle, but we may have come close! When the weather gets warm we roll out our summer seasonal, Vacationland Summer Ale. Vacationland is an Extra Special Golden Ale that's light in color but full-bodied, with a snappy hop finish. A bit of extra time in the conditioning tank rounds out and mellows the ale. We use generous portions of pale malt with just a touch of wheat malt to give VSA unique flavor that?s richer than most summer brews. Cascade leaf hops add a delicate and forward hop character as well. It's the perfect brew for all things summer. Available April-August on draft, in 6 and 12-packs, 22 oz bottles and 5-liter mini-kegs.

Vagabond is the second offering in our limited 375 ml series. With only 500 bottles made, this beer is from one of the only barrels to move with us into our new brewery three years ago. Aged four years in American oak barrels, it boasts a complex aroma of maple syrup and port, with background notes of marzipan, plum and dill. Flavors of tart, unripened plum and caramel give way to a warming, toasted almond finish. As always...an adventure.
