Wheat

This beer gets body from more than 51.5% unmalted grain- the result is a hazy look with a clean bready finish. The wort, pronounced wert, was given a lacto rest and Devil’s Teeth sourdough starter adds tart flavor. The sterling hops are pleasantly earthy to compliment the clove esters produced by the yeast.

A traditional British wheat ale—light and crisp. It has a very light body and color, which contrasts nicely with its subtle maltiness. The hops introduce a subtle fruity sense, noticeable in the background. The overall impression is of a smooth, lightly flavored beer.

Wheat

Wheat (May – September) German brewers discovered centuries ago that the addition of wheat produces a distinctively light, refreshing beer. Unlike traditional German wheat beers produced by other breweries, Abita Wheat is a lager, not an ale, and contains a generous amount of wheat which produces a clean, simple flavor. For a change of pace, try Abita Wheat with a twist of lemon. Feta and goat cheeses pair well with Wheat beer. Great with summertime fare such as pasta and salads, but don’t forget barbeque and anything right off the grill.

Wheat Ale

Hoffmann Hefeweizen is our newest offering and is a traditional German wheat beer made from 60% wheat malt and 40% barley malt. Wheat Ales such as this typically have banana and clove flavors but as Dave dislikes clove, he used a special yeast to strengthen the banana flavors. Hefeweizen is a nice, light, crisp summer beer that can be served with lemon or flavored syrups.

Wheat Beer

Cloudy in appearance, aromatic and highly carbonated. Lightly hopped with our own Tettnanger hop flowers. You may notice “banana” aromas which is created by the special type of yeast used and the higher fermentation temperatures. This is balanced by a tart finish on the palate which is caused by the high percentage of Wheat Malt in the grain bill. You really must drink this one in the 500ml tall glasses specially designed for this beer to fully appreciate the creamy, white head and aromatics of the beer.
