Saule

Saule is French for “willow”, a traditional nine-year anniversary gift. Our ninth anniversary ale, Saule, follows in the footsteps of our anniversary releases before it, which are loosely based on an English-style old ale, fermented with our house yeast strain, aged in bourbon barrels and blended using the solera method. This means that a portion of each anniversary ale is saved in oak barrels and blended in with the next year’s production, providing more complexity and depth of character as the years go by. The result is layered in robust and complex flavors of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla and oak.

B-1000 Terminator

Celebrating our 1000th brew at the Market Garden Brewpub on W. 25th St., Market Garden Brewery releases B-1000 Terminator, a rich and roasted Barrel Aged Imperial Stout accented with dark fruit and caramel notes. The extremely limited release aged in Middle West Spirits OYO Bourbon barrels will be released on draft on draft and in 1-liter bottles at the Ohio City brewpub TODAY, June 16th. A limited number of 1/6 barrel kegs will be distributed to fine draft locations throughout the Cleveland area. To celebrate this feat, a “more is more” approach was taken to brew a huge imperial stout. Six malts and a double mash gives a rich, roasted, chocolatey with underlying dark fruit and caramel notes. These characteristics are intensified by homemade dark candy sugar. After fermentation, half of the batch was put into OYO Bourbon barrels from Middle West Spirits while the other half was infused with cocoa nibs. After three months of aging these two were remarried resulting in a beer that is complex but not complicated, thick and rich but not cloying. It does not deviate from the Market Garden Brewery philosophy that drove the 999 batches that came before “Balance is the Key” and “Beer for People”!

Directionally Challenged

Directionally Challenged is a Southeast IPA (as we, along with Ass Clown Brewing Company, are calling it) that you want to get your hands on! It’s basically a NE IPA but uses flaked corn (similar to grits) instead of wheat and oats to give it a “southern” twist, making it a SE IPA, plus a lower ABV (5.5%) for the hot summer drinking. It was also hopped with 7 lbs per barrel (Simcoe, Mosaic, El Dorado and Eureka) — the most hops per barrel we’ve ever brewed with!
