Rye ale aged in Sazarec rye whiskey, Buffalo Trace bourbon, and Four Roses bourbon barrels, brewed exclusively for Julio’s Liquors in Westboro. This beer was on sale on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at their 8th Annual Spring Beer Fest.

The second release in the Ken Schramm Signature Series of meads. Ken’s recipe required almost one pound of fresh ginger per gallon of finished mead. Raw orange blossom honey compliments the ginger nicely. This is a ginger lover’s mead and has plenty of heat to balance the sweetness. Pairs nicely with Asian dishes.

This mead is a hole in one. Our Peach Kill all the Golfers came about because we just can’t leave a good thing well enough alone. The crew used a special peach tea instead of our normal black tea and lemon in a batch of Kill all the Golfers and this is what we got. We had some on tap at the 2014 Spring Mead Fest, and it was an instant hit. We had so many requests to bottle it that we just gave it in and did it.

This noble wine was considered worthy of the aristocratic tables, and the recipe is attributed to the Capuchin monks. If you try some, you may find that monastic life was not as boring as we imagine. It is best paired with fruits, cheesecake, and chocolate. Knight is dark and earthy with cinnamon, Madagascar vanilla, ginger root and aged for at least 36 months. This heavy-oaked mead is best paired with fruits, cheesecake, and chocolate.

Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

On this 10-year mark, Midnight Sun Brewing Company proudly releases its 1000th batch of beer - a larger-than-life Belgian-style Barley Wine (if such a style exists) simply called M - in commemoration of the enduring spirit that founded and sustains this little brewery in the extreme Northwest. Making M required a massive grain bill - seven seductive malts - boosted by strength-inducing Belgian candi sugar. Once original gravity hit 37 Plato, a frenzied fermentation ensued: four completely fabulous yeast strains, two of Belgian origin, transformed this sweet concoction into all that is beer. But not just any beer. A beer of madcap magnitude - 11.6% ABV. Character and complexity increased exponentialy while M meddled and mellowed for several months in all-American bourbon oak barrels. Blending the aged beer before bottling ascertained smoothness. M is mesmerizing, pouring dark and silky. Caramel and spice waft up from the glass; bourbon, molasses, leather and vanilla follow. The first taste proffers tobacco, burnt sugar and raisin with a sublime port-like finish, but bourbon - smooth, sensuous, brooding bourdon - is ever-present. The finish, a bit edgy like an American take on barley wine, provides the necessary leap toward overall balance. M is a precious gift to ourselves as well as you, seekers of beer-that-is-beyond-beer adventures... We are but mere mortals in the presence of M.
