When we were designing our flagship brands, we knew we would not please everybody, so we went for diversity; our Yukon Red is substantially different from our Yukon Gold. But what has surprised us most is that our local Yukoners have taken both of our flagship brands to heart (and to dinner, and to parties…) and drank almost equivalent quantities of each! This speaks volumes for the apparent consumer cravings for beers with flavour, and Yukon Red is all about flavour. The drink starts with by displaying a deep bronze colour, but the beer is crystal clear. The head is an abundant fine mousse (pronounced ‘moose’ for the cabin crowd), cream coloured and just spilling over the rim of the glass (if you got the good waitress, Yukon trained and all). As you raise the mug, your senses catch the fine aromas permeating from the glass, clean malty sweetness touched by spicy hop esters. The first draw of the ale cools the parched lips and moistens the cheeks. Full malt body takes over the palate; not sweet, but bold, fruity and persistent. A snap of clean hop bitter grabs the back of the tongue and springs into the sinus cavity, blending with the caramel flavours that have wafted back with the nectar that is this ale. But the swallow goes down clean, almost dry, and leaves only a slight lingering presence of the abundant flavours that were just there, and now gone! Many more draws on the mug, many more mouth-filling flavour experiences, and always that clean finish, saying “How about another?!!”. Can you tell that this is the head brewers favourite? All you expect in a true ale, and as arresting as the Spell of the Yukon.

The Yuzu is a Japanese fruit with characteristics of both robust grapefruit citrus and mandarin oranges. Paired with a delicately hopped pale ale, this makes for an incredibly unique and drinkable beer.

We looked to acclaimed Chef José Andrés to help us create a Spanish take on the farmhouse-style saison. The addition of lemon verbena, pink peppercorn, sumac, and dried lime infuse the Chef’s distinctive flavors into the brew – an ale purposefully crafted to complement all your culinary endeavors. Our newest year round offering, Zeke’s is a crisp, sessional pale that offers huge aromas and flavor of tropical fruits from the use of Galaxy hops. A light grain bill allows the hops to shine, while maintaining enough sweetness to create a well-balanced beer.

Our American Pale Ale uses American two row malted barley and a touch of light crystal malt in combination with two pungent and resiny whole cone American hops. The hops are added to the boil using strategery to yield a pleasant, yet satisfying, hop punch. The beer is named after our favorite college watering hole: Zeno’s Pub. 'Zingari' is Italian for gypsies, and this name perfectly captures Wandering Star's take on the Belgian Wit style. Brewed with 50% six-row barley and 50% malted and unmalted wheat, the beer is subtly spiced with lemongrass, cardamom, fenugreek, and coriander.

Zumbar Chocolate Coffee Imperial Stout was created as a collaboration between New English Brewing Company, and San Diego boutique coffee roaster, Zumbar Coffee & Tea for the Great American Beer Festival, 2012. This Imperial Stout is brewed with “El Mundo” a rich blend of Indonesian and Latin American coffee beans in the mash and also in the fermenter. As well as ridiculous amounts of whole bean coffee we added 2Lbs per Barrel of 72% cacao Belgian Chocolate in the secondary. A true Imperial Stout at 9.3% ABV, this beer is nevertheless well balanced with Nugget hops providing 45 IBU’s ensuring a pleasant bitterness offsetting the powerful combinations of malt, coffee and chocolate. Brewed similar to classic pale ale, the Zwickl Max emerges from the storage cellar barrelled and bottled in its natural unfiltered state. The malt, yeast and hop sediments contained in the unfiltered Zwickl Max account for the distinctively palatable and rounded taste. Fitted with a pull-off-cap preferred by young customers, Zwickl Max is absolute "Bavarian Beer Bliss" for in-between times and occasions.

The name ’39 pays tribute to St. Cloud’s rich brewing tradition. Artfully blended British and Belgian malts contribute to a slight roast/dark fruit canvas for broad sweeps of Pacific Northwest hops to provide this ale with a firm bitterness as well as citrus flavors and aromas. Cheers!
