Chocolate George is loosely based on the malt bill of a stout but undergoes a Belgian yeast fermentation and includes the addition of cocoa nibs. The nibs come from San Francisco-based TCHO Chocolate. These three components (lots of dark-roasted barley, cocoa nibs, and fruity, Belgian fermentation notes) produce a very unique interplay and flavor profile. It’s a complex beer!

On October 13, 2007, at our Brewery Tenth Anniversary Party (Waffles and Puppets) we introduced Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence Stout to the world. Chocolate Indulgence comes with a thick tan head of foam resting on top of the rich onyx-colored liquid. The aroma immediately speaks of dark chocolate and dark malts. The gentle herbal nose of Perle hops compliments the darker notes, making the beer savory to the senses. The taste continues with the intense Belgian dark chocolate gliding across the tongue; starting sweet up front but giving way to rich cocoa flavors at the back. Through it all, a subtle fruitiness from our special Belgian yeast gives the beer brightness otherwise foreign to a beer style normally associated with gray foggy skies. Lingering chocolate entices the drinker to taste more. Go ahead. Dessert is good for the soul.

A very dark, full-bodied ale. Hints of roasted caramel malts along with luscious Betsy Ann chocolate in every sip.

This dark and broody milk stout is full bodied and perfect to cuddle up next to a fire with. A solid and robust drink that has been aged on cacao nibs and shells provided by the East Van Roasting Company.

“This brew is from my award winning base beer “Black Sand Beach”, a Russian Imperial Stout with a twist. I love the mints they put on the pillows in posh hotels, so mint chocolate was added to this intensely flavored dark ale. Rich flavors of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fruits, and malty grains mingle with the chocolate mint to give a refreshing cooling flavor that persists from beginning to finish.
