This foreboding black ale unleashes a torrential downpour of hop character within a maelstrom of roasted malt flavor. A pleasing roundness and satisfying balance offer but the illusion of safe shelter. This monster stout is not for the faint of heart. Annually released in January-February

A spiced dark Belgian inspired ale. Brewed with imported English pale malt and German vienna and chocolate wheat malts to yield a dark brew with low sweetness. The hop varietal is English First Gold and it was spiced with star anise to lend a light anise flavor. This beer was fermented with the strain from the Rocheforte brewery, one of the last Trappist Monastic breweries.

The second offering in the Serenade Series, this is a traditional dry Irish Stout. It has a deep, dark, mysterious color. Flavors of expresso and chocolate dominate yet a subtle smoky character persists in the background. (There is no coffee or chocolate in there, it’s just the roasted barley.) This recipe was voted Best Stout in the world at the World Beer Cup 2000. This one’s for all you Stout Heads.

An experimentally hopped sour ale fermented with dark red wine grapes. Observers of yestercentury once doubted the existence of the Dark Swan, stating the fair-feathered fowl was the only color of its kind. Explorers eventually upended that theory, shocking the world and shining light on the Dark. This beer might just do the same. It’s a sour ale fermented with dark red wine grapes, giving it its uniquely deep and rich purple hue. Then it received the signature Lagunitas treatment with a healthy dose of experimental dry hops. This might just shock your taste buds!

A Black Saison with spices that include Thyme, Seeds of Paradise and Coriander.

Malt-forward, made with three types of wheat, Caramunich malt and Belgian oats. Brewers Dave, Keith, Brian and Ken also replicated the hard water profile traditionally found in Munich to accentuate the sweet malt flavors inherent in the beer. Finally, they used a mix of both Czech and American Saaz hops for subtle earthy hop flavor.

This black ale is the perfect balance of dark roasted malt and bright hop flavors. With bold and complex flavors at the forefront, this beer retains a remarkably clean finish.
