Discombobulator is a German Maibock lager brewed for the month of ”Mai” . Bocks are strong beers and traditionally have names ending in “-ator”. Our Discombobulator Maibock is a “helles” or light-colored bock. Always a crowd-pleaser in the brewpub but you have to be here in May to experience the phenomenon that is Discombobulator! We’ll bet you can remember your first glass of Sauvignon Blanc, all those racy, up-front fruit flavours and that bracing punch of acidity. Allow us to introduce the beer world’s equivalent from the home of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc. Pioneered in the American state of California, American Pale Ale, or APA for short, was designed to showcase the unique resiny fruitiness of American hops. Here at Renaissance we have given this style a truly New Zealand flavour by using Cascade and Willamette hops that are grown over the hill in Nelson. This beer displays honeyed characters and the subtle hop flavours lead to a slightly sweet finish on the palate.

On candy stripe legs the tripods come, softly through the shadows of the evening sun. Ominous creatures have arrived from deep space, exceedingly parched. They scour and scourge our strange world, until they encounter the liquid that will provide them the sustenance they crave. Starting with a uniquely complex Belgian IPA that is subsequently barrel-aged on oak, these assassins from another world disintegrate the distinct blend of citrusy hops to permeate and calm their souls. Yielding the strangest twist upon their alien lips, they undergo an out of their world experience. Due to the immense power of this golden elixir, peace in the universe will thankfully now endure.

We like to be different, so we have brewed this Black Berliner-Style Weisse, which is much like the traditional German-style sour wheat beer, but we have brewed it with debittered black malt for a dark sour beer that is acidic and lemony-tart from our unique wild yeast and lactic fermentation. This beer is highly attenuated, very light bodied with high carbonation and low hop rates, which showcases the sourness all the more.

An Imperial India Pale Lager (IPL) brewed with a wide variety of tropical, citrus-forward hops, this August to mark the tenth installment in our Backstage Series. Dissenter is the first lager we’ve brewed since Noble Lager, a beer that hasn’t been in our production cycle for twelve years. Dissenter is our argument in favor of the potential for complex lagers, clocking in at 8.7% ABV and 70 IBUs. This beer is a departure from our other releases for a couple of reasons: All of the beers in our standard lineup are ales, which are fermented at warm temperatures, whereas lagers are fermented cold. Plus, Dissenter uses a different kind of yeast from other Founders beers. Test batches of the Imperial IPL were brewed using our pilot system and have been on tap in our taproom off and on throughout the past few months. The longer brewing process used for lagers gives this beer an exceptionally clean finish, allowing the clear beauty of the hops to shine.

We use 9 different styles of malted barley & oatmeal flakes to give a roasted, chocolate & dark caramel flavor. Then balanced with medium hop bitterness. Pushed with straight nitrogen on tap to create a thick creamy head.

So named for the location of Lost Highway Brewing in relation to the Denver Police District 6 station. The beer is a classic German style Pilsner. Brewed with German hops and Barley, and Monastery yeast. Pale straw color, this is a refreshing session beer.
