A classic Bavarian style wheat beer that is straw in color and somewhat cloudy due to the yeast in suspension. The yeast gives the beer a medium to heavy mouth feel yet it is very refreshing due to banana and clove overtones. First brewed by Fort Garry in 1930, Frontier Pilsener is a classic North American Lager with premium Two Row Canadian barley and Pacific Northwest hops.

When we decided to call our latest Brewmaster’s Reserve beer Brooklyn “Fiat Lux” (“Let There Be Light”), we weren’t trying to get all god-like on you. What we’re really saying is “let there be summer”. Let there be beaches, let there be blankets laid out on grass, let there be beer gardens, let there be barbecues, let there be outdoor concerts, let there be good beer everywhere, great people to drink it with, and time to enjoy it. Yeah, we thought you’d be down with that too. What are we drinking this summer? Combining Canadian and American malts with a large proportion of un-malted white winter wheat, Fiat Lux starts with a Belgian witbier inspiration. A blend of Pacific Northwest hops, a little lime peel and a dash of Indian coriander brings a bright blast of citrusy aromatic sunshine, while German Perle hops supply a nice big zap of refreshing bitterness. Brooklyn Fiat Lux is great with everything you’re cooking and eating this summer (it’s not that great with beef stew… but you’re not eating beef stew) from barbecue to burgers, from crawfish to salmon. And it’s mighty nice with goat cheese. Have a great summer, folks. And yes, we admit it – we really do love walking into places, declaring “Fiat Lux!” and making it so.

Our anniversary ale is a Scottish Wee Heavy. Hints of roasted barley, dates, plums, and raisins.

Dark roasted malts give rise to strong coffee aroma and notes of caramel and chocolate. Balances out with mild ester and hop presence.

Another intercontinental brew from Hopshire. Malted barley and hops from New York and England are combined to make this malty tasting ale. The malts are 2 row pale, Maris Otter, amber and chocolate while Nugget, Willamette and Kent Goldings hops are used. Local honey is also added for a subtle taste and lighter body. Irish ale yeast is present in the nose and taste. Have a big glass, this beer has a lower ABV and a smooth taste.

Wonderfully malty ale, with a dark reddish-brown color. Caramalt and Chocolate malts dominate the flavor, with a hint of smokiness. The East Kent Goldings hops are few in this brew, just enough for a slight balance. Toffee and chocolate flavors are evident. Great for the malt lover in all of us.

Bright full-emphasized beer malty aroma, very light bitterness. It is brewed with 12% original gravity beer has a full-bodied, malt-aromatic flavor and a stronger color than lager.

Field 2 is a complex and refreshing farmhouse ale that emphasizes the unique flavors of rustic yeast from a farm brewery on the French-Belgian border. With delicate notes of wild herbs, spices, pear, and straw, it’s no surprise that farmhouse ales once quenched field workers. Traditional hops from Bavaria and Slovenia lend pronounced aroma of lemongrass and earth to a gentle finish. With ingredients that traveled far to come together, Field 2 is yet another transplant to New York that decided to stay. The name is taken from our preferred field in New York, found on the Great Lawn of Central Park.

The farmhouse brewers of old based their recipes on what was available to them. From this, a distinct terroir emerged. To capture the essence of our own locale, we brew Field Beer with 100% Connecticut grown malted barley, and hop varieties that have proven successful in our region. As our hop yard and the others around us mature, we will be switching to 100% CT grown hops. Over the course of the year you will notice changes in Field Beer. To emphasize the seasonality of agriculture and brewing, we will adjust the recipe each season to include a small percentage of an alternative grain while adjusting the hops to truly complement the character of our house yeast and Connecticut malt.

Our brewers made this special single batch India Pale Ale using fresh picked organic hops. Hand picked by our brewers at dawn in the Clearlake region of California, then added to the beer within hours of picking them so you enjoy same day freshness!

Fieldmouse’s Farewell is our late Spring/early Summer (come on Summer!) seasonal beer. A saison that is slightly sweeter, slightly more full-bodied and golden than Jack D’Or, and therefore might be slightly more approachable, depending on your taste for hops (fewer bittering hops in this beer). The hops are wonderful, old-world French hops from Alsace. We happened upon them, along with their representatives, at the Craft Brewers’ Conference and we were immediately smitten. So, like a few of our other beers, this is a beer inspired by Europe, but brought into being in an American way. It is pretty much the best beer ever on a Spring evening when the sun tentatively brings you just a little warmth and a promise of adventures ahead.

This wonderful summer ale is both easy to drink and very refreshing! While most Saisons lean to the funky side of flavor and mouthfeel, our Fields Ablaze has a lightness and a cleanliness not seen very often. There is a bouquet of light tartness with lemon and a floral yet spicy aroma. A clean malt character thrives with the addition of our own lemongrass and Seckal pear tea, stewed right here in the brewery. The flavor is simple yet elegant with light malt sweetness and a slight grainy texture. The subtle finish will keep you coming back for more as a low bitterness allows for the crisp, clean finish that will rejuvenate both body and mind.

Fields Forever, our red sour beer aged in oak barrels with strawberries, is fermented with Brettanomyces yeast and Lactobacillus bacteria. We added 42 pounds of strawberry to each oak barrel during the fermentation. Subtle flavors and aromas of strawberry pair well with the assertive acidity of this beer. Fields Forever is our third Founder's Club release. Two bottles of Fields Forever are included with each Founder's Club membership. We have a few extra bottles of Fields Forever, which will be available for Founder's Club members to purchase here, with a limit of 1 per/person/day, while supplies last, starting July 10th. Additional bottles are priced at $30/750mL bottle.

Fields of Plenty was brewed in collaboration with the League of Conservation Voters to represent the importance of land conservation across the state of Virginia. A complex malt bill including Virginia Special Pale malt, wheat and rye gives this pale ale a strong backbone, balanced with its spicy, floral, earthy hops.

Fiend is a copper colored session beer brewed with spicy rye malt and pale barley malt. A touch of Roasted Barley provides color and a dry finish.
