Duvel

Duvel is a natural beer with a subtle bitterness, a refined flavour and a distinctive hop character. The unique brewing process, which takes about 90 days, guarantees a pure character, delicate effervescence and a pleasant sweet taste of alcohol. Apart from pure spring water, which is the main ingredient of beer, barley is the most important raw material. Barley must germinate for five days in the malt house, after which malt remains. The colour of the malt and as a consequence also of the beer is determined by the temperature. Duvel obtains its typical bitterness by adding various varieties of aromatic Slovenian and Czech hops. We use only exclusive hops that are renowned for their constant, outstanding quality. Duvel ferments for the first time in tanks at 20 to 26°C. The brewer uses his own culture for this. The original yeast strain, which Victor Moortgat himself selected in the 1920’s, originates from Scotland. After maturing in storage tanks in which the beer is cooled down to -2°C, the drink is ready for bottling. Thanks to the addition of extra sugars and yeast, the beer ferments again in the bottle. This occurs in warm cellars (24°C) and takes two weeks. Then the beer is moved to cold cellars, where it continues to mature and stabilise for a further six weeks. This extra long maturation period is unique and contributes to the refined flavour and pure taste of Duvel. A team of beer specialists checks the process daily by means of taste analyses. It is only after 90 days, when it has achieved its rich range of flavours, that Duvel may leave the brewery. Thanks to its surprisingly high alcohol content (8.5 %), enormous head, fine effervescence and silky smooth feel in the mouth, Duvel stands out clearly from other Belgian beers.

Duvel Single

Created by the Moortgat family, bottled Duvel is one of Belgium’s favorite ales. The secret of its success lies in using only best-quality ingredients, and in the well-balanced, very specific, complex brewing and refermentation process that takes over 90 days. After brewing and first fermentation – which takes about 30 days – the beer is tasted by the brewmaster and his staff. At this stage this beer is called “single-fermented.” Typical Duvel flavors and aromas are already emerging, but the beer is lower in alcohol and carbonation, and the taste is slightly lighter and crisper. This is only available in draft and is different from what is in the bottles.

Duvel Tripel Hop

Duvel Tripel Hop is brewed from three different hop varieties, the third of which is changed each year in order to create a unique taste experience. The flavour and aroma of the final product are, in other words, a mystery up until the very last minute. Duvel's Chief Executive Officer, Michel Moortgat, says "We were inspired by an old advert for 'Moortgat Hop Beer', and the latest hop beer from our sister brewery Chouffe, so we experimented with adding more hops to Duvel. We liked the beer so much that we decided to bottle so that we could share that moment of enjoyment with real beer-lovers."

DYNO

A crisp citrus aroma and flavor come from late additions of hops taken from the Pacific Northwest. The unique blend of hops lend to aromas of tangerine, pine, and fresh cut flowers. Late hop additions allows us to present a significant aroma and flavor with only a moderate bitterness. A “dyno” is a tool used to measure speed and force in cars. Lucid DYNO packs a forceful punch of hops in the aroma and flavor balanced with a smooth bitterness and malt flavor. Sleek and Agile rarely describe beer, but they are appropriate here. Eagle Harbor IPA

THE BEER: Eagle Harbor is our interpretation of a classic Northwest IPA. Recently the 'More is More!' camp have moved this noble style ever in the direction of increased alcohol and bitterness, flashy new hop varieties, and a tendency towards one-upsmanship. We've taken a step back, thought about what makes a great every-day IPA, and returned to our beloved NW IPA's roots. Hops include classic varieties, including Cascade, Nugget and Willamette, with modern varieties Apollo and Zythos reflecting a nod to the future. ESB, Crystal 40, Special Aromatic, Wheat, Carahell, and Sour malts. Dryhopped and ran through several pounds of whole leaf Cascade in our hopback, Eagle Harbor presents a firm hop aroma, supported by enough malt character to keep you coming back for more. THE STORY: As the story goes, India Pale Ale was a big, hoppy beer designed to survive passage in a ship's hold all the way to India. Eagle Harbor is the bay that Downtown Winslow adjoins and the location of the ferry terminal. Interestingly, Winslow was not the main settlement on the island for much of its history. Searching for a new harbor to build ever larger ships, in 1903 the Hall Brothers Shipyard relocated from Port Blakely to Eagle Harbor. The tiny settlement of Madrone was then renamed Winslow, after the deceased Winslow Hall. Eagle Harbor IPA is named for that fading dream of enormous five-masted schooners, sailing to distant shores.

Earthrise

Earthrise will give you a whole new perspective on hops and IPAs. Deep citrus orange color clues you into the flavors within. Aromas of honeydew, orange, and ripe pineapple rush forth. The flavor is distinctly resinous and dank. Floral honey, apricot, white grapefruit and sweet orange give Earthrise a decidedly tropical character. Assertively bitter, Earthrise leaves layers of hop flavor coating the palate after each sip. Hopped with Mandarina Bavaria and Huell Melon.
