Groove City Hefe

This German Style Hefeweizen is a throwback in homage of Cambridge’s most lasting nickname. As legend has it, Cambridge was once a crossroads of soulful musical talented boasting numerous venues that poured expressive and moving melodies into the streets. Scholars disagree as to when the nickname “Groove City” was first coined, however they do agree that it had gained major acceptance with the residents by the late 1980’s. Like all great things of antiquity, the music faded from the streets and the people soon forgot the meaning… …but every dusk has its dawn and the Groove City Hefe embodies the best parts of the past. Golden-yellow and hazy in appearance, this brew is a soulful combination of American and German ingredients. Complex yet incredibly subtle, a faint sweetness immediately greets your palate followed by a distinctive wheat note. Notes of banana and clove are ever so subtly detected on the finish.

"Ground Wolf" was brewed to celebrate the bittering and aromatic wonders of the hop plant, also known as Ground Wolf (so named for its tenacious ability to overrun most any neighboring plant), while keeping the booze restrained to a quaffable 4.5%. Columbus hops added at the beginning of the boil give Ground Wolf a strong bitter backbone. Multiple additions of Centennial hops throughout the brew, as well as a heaping dry addition afterwords, give it a bright citrus nose and flavor that is sure to please IPA fans.

Groundhog Brew

Straub Altbier is the perfect warmer against the winter cold. Copper in color with a pronounced malt flavor, brewed with imported German hops for a firm, bitter edge, and fermented with authentic German ale yeast, this brew will have you hoping for 6 more weeks of winter! The German-Style Altbier is one of the few authentic ales brewed in the German tradition. Bavarian brewers invented lager beer in the 16th century. Before that, the old style of brewing utilized ale yeast. "Alt" is German for old, so the "Altbier" is a beer made "in the old German style."

Grouse Beater

Our home town of Masham lies on the eastern edge of the famous Yorkshire Dales in the lower end of Wensleydale, one of the most beautiful areas of the country. Just to the east, lies the Vale of York and beyond the wonderful North York Moors. As such, Masham is in the middle of two of the best moorland areas in the world and home of the uniquely British game bird, the Grouse. Theakston Grouse Beater is our tribute to the many who keep and protect the moors environment ensuring the future for the famous bird and also for the pleasure of many thousands of visitors that come from all over to enjoy the unique beauty of the countryside. Grouse Beater is brewed using Moorland berries to give a deliciously fruity flavour on a subtle but well balanced bitter hop and is ideal either on its own accompanying game or light curry dishes.
