FireBrick

FireBrick was introduced in 1999, and is named after the bricks that line Schell's old boilers. It is the culmination of an effort to bridge the gap between the "popular-tasting" beers and the heartier, hand-crafted ones. FireBrick is a refreshing all-malt lager with an amber-red hue that reflects the feeling of the brewery itself. It has been described by Ted Marti as having a "subtle maltiness combined with a hint of hoppy taste that creates a mild, pleasantly drinkable beer." It is made with four specialty malts, along with Vanguard, Chinook and Hallertau hops.

Firefly Amber Ale

Firefly is our lightest offering at Jackie O’s. We like to refer to it as our gateway ale. Introducing macro drinkers to this beer has proved to be effective in converting them into craft beer drinkers. Seasoned craft beer drinkers also admire the drinkability and soft but wide rage of flavors embedded within this Amber ale. A fusion of Maris Otter, Belgian Pilsen, and American 2-row provide an interesting and complex malty base for this refreshing ale. Lightly roasted malt gives Firefly a biscuit-like finish. Carefully selected hops provide an herbal and mildly citrus aroma and flavor.

First Frontier IPA

The starting point for First Frontier is to create an IPA "the american way", without a sickly sweet malt profile that removes the focus from the IPA is really about, namely potent and aromatic hops. The result is a wonderfully dry, crisp and bitter IPA, which is hard tørhumlet with the three American hop varieties Warrior, Simcoe, and Centennial, which gives hints of citrus, peach and grapefruit. Added is a bit caramel malt, which is just there to harness and balance the alcohol that is at 7.1%. "We all got pieces of crazy in us, somebody bigger pieces enn andre"

Fixed Gear

Inspired by the energy and audacity of the fixed gear courier, Lakefront Brewery ran smack into this arresting creation. Fixed Gear is a big, bold American red ale. It pours a glaring crimson tone with a rocky white head and a brilliant floral-citrus aroma, thanks to an aggressive dry hopping. Its immodest, malty spine and intrepid caramel flavors blow in via gratuitous amounts of 2-row pale and dark caramel malts. A balanced citrus bite comes from Chinook and Cascade hops followed shortly by mild, fruity esters from the ale yeast. Weighing in at a mean 6.5% ABV and 34 IBU's, this one's got an attitude.

Built on a solid base of pale malts, this double IPA makes generous use of hops from Columbus, Crystal and Galaxy with the Galaxy hops taking the lead during ten days of aggressive dry-hopping.

Northwest Golding and Hallertauer hops provide a pleasant hop character. Right out primary fermentation this beer is decidedly a Northwest pale ale, but as it enters secondary a bridge to Belgium is built with a dose of brettanomyces bruxellensis. The beer is allowed to mature for about five weeks before it is packaged. This offers just a hint of brett character while maintaining a fruit laden nose from the Northwest hops.
