Fermentation vessels have this glorious little sample valve, called the "Zwickel" in German. Brewers use this valve to take tastes of the beer as it ferments, to check for progress and quality. And because when you work in a brewery, you drink beer straight from the tanks just because you can. In that spirit, we'll release Heliostat Zwickel Lager in July and August, only on draft. Heliotropic Hoppy Pale is brewed with generous amounts of wheat and rye, producing a beer with a dense mouthfeel and spicy malt flavor. Comet hops impart bright notes of grapefruit and pineapple. Turn your face to the sun and enjoy this easy-drinking pale ale.

Hell is German for light. A pale-gold lager with bready malt aromas and flavors, floral hop aroma, and a balanced finish. Finally, a Surly beer my German mother will drink. She says this one tastes like a bier from back home. Not unlike a Zwickel Bier from Germany, Hell is not filtered and fermented with lager yeast. American hops takes a back seat to the Pils malt sweetness and fresh bread aroma. The color is well… hell (Deutsch for light). It’s fiendishly drinkable, and you don’t have to sell your soul to get another.

Triple fermented with four strains of yeast, Hell Imperial Stout will slowly tangle your soul in the depths of the inferno as you sip on the robust, thick, and roasted body of this delightfully sinful beer. Charcoal Filtered.

We produced our traditional Hell Bay Pale Ale with a light golden color, just enough hop bitterness, balanced by malt sweetness. Due to the characteristics and technique of the hopping, there's a citrus/fruity hop finish to the beer that you will love!
