Named in honor of Fitchburg's first farmer, John Stoner's Oatmeal Stout is a good old-fashioned lesson in rich, creamy smoothness. Brewed with a high percentage of oats - which provides the creaminess - Oatmeal Stout is a sub-category of the Sweet Stout genre (as opposed to Dry Irish, Foreign, or Imperial Stout.) Various roasted and caramel malts lend the trademark sweet chocolate and coffee notes to this beer, while the special nitrogen-tap system delivers a dense head and emphasizes the smoothness.

White Ale's are Belgian style beers, often referred to as "Wit" beer. Our version of this classic style is a wonderful spicy brew, infused with orange peel and coriander spices. It has a crisp refreshing flavor and a slight 'white' haze from the large percentage of wheat used in the mash. This beer was developed to celebrate John's Grocery's 50th anniversary and 3 generations of ownership. This beer has quickly become a favorite beer around here.

Our Pro-Am Offering for the 2014 GABF. This Saison uses a blend of French and Belgian Saison yeast. It is straw colored and has a nice dry finish.

Ghost pepper fiesta lager.

With heavy grapefruit, citrus and resin in the nose, this light colored ale has minimal malt interference, giving the beer a clean finish without a cloying bitterness. Pronounced grapefruit and pine flavors with a faint verdant note.

This court-ordered collaboration of the highest kind is a guardian of the old- and new-school. A traditional Bohemian build fuses with the juicy notes of Germany's newest hop breeds to create a Nouveau Pilsner that is packed tight with the big hop flavors you've come to expect from both parties. Joint Custody is a collaboration creation with our buds at Jack's Abby Brewing in Framingham, Massachusetts.

The Joint Session Pale Ale from the Bird Brain Brewing Company is smooth and easy to drink with a nice clean finish. As the name implies, it’s a session beer – one you can enjoy more than one of without having to worry about a hangover the next day. Typically pale ales lose some of their distinction with a lower ABV, but not this one. The flavor comes out just as crisp and perky as a 6% or 7% ABV brew. The hops are pronounced but not overwhelming. All in all, well-balanced pale ale you can enjoy for hours.

There's at least one in every pack and this is our very own agent of chaos. Created from a complex layer of malts and blended hops, this well balanced IPA delivers satisfaction every time. Golden in the glass, fruity on the nose with hints of cedar. Joker IPA is Bitter/Sweet, full of flavour and is sure to put a smile on your face.

Last NoDable Series release of 2011! Jole Mole is our Mexican-inspired American Amber Ale which is lightly hopped with Challenger & East Kent Goldings, flavored with Mexican cocoa powder and New Mexico & chipotle chili peppers. The chipotle chilies add a smokiness to the pepper warmth. This beer is not for the faint of heart!

This lager was brewed with a generous amount of Munich malt to develop the deep amber color and rich malt flavor. The malty flavor is balanced with a spicy hop bitterness.

Boldly hoppy, just like the award-winning craft beers the brewery is renowned for, the seasonal offering was created when a newer team member committed a ‘folly’ by mistakenly mixing two different beer tanks, resulting in 500 barrels (or 15,500 gallons!) of the merry new brew. A taste of the resulting batch revealed it to be delicious, a hop bomb with a winter spice flavor. It’s Green Flash’s unexpected gift to IPA enthusiasts this holiday season. Jolly Folly is dominated by resinous, spicy hops. Its piney, floral aroma yields to a full malty flavor that is nicely balanced by multiple layers of citrus and tropical hop flavors.

Take in the sweet and roasted nose with hints of chocolate and caramel. Enjoy the taste of creamy chocolate and roasted coffee flavors—like sweetened fresh espresso.

A sour brew that is aged for a year and a half in a 100-bbl oak foudre before being blended with a few "normal" size barrels of varying ages. The result creates a complex combination of flavors and sophistication.

For our 2011 Jolly Rodger Ale, we’ve crossed over to the Dark side and brought loads of hops along for the trip to make an Imperial Dark India Pale Ale. Starting with just the right blend of American 2-row barley, dark roasted barley and Rye to give the beer its smooth mouthfeel and intimidating darkness, we then hit it hard with Chinook, Citra and CTZ hops to give it a classic “West Coast” style hoppy aroma and flavor. Smooth, crisp and hop-forward, but with a heart of darkness.
