Kriek Jacobins

The basic ingredient of our Jacobins Kriek is wort made of wheat and malted barley. This wort is first boiled and then transported to the brewery’s open cooling vessel to cool down. Afterwards it spontaneously ferments in big oak barrels, giving the beer its refined flavour and aroma. To obtain its true “kriek” or cherry flavour, natural cherry juices are also added. The fruitiness of the aroma clearly reveals itself in the mouth. Our Jacobins Kriek has a well-balanced, pleasant and slightly sweet flavour, which is best enjoyed when drunk out of its own bowl-shaped glass. An excellent thirst quencher and... perfect for drinking in an outdoor café!

Kriek Lambic

“Kriek” means cherry, and we’ve made this Belgian-style ale our own by using Door County cherry juice and some Wisconsin organic malts. Beginning with a clear cherry top note, earthiness – funk, wet hay --and tartness become more pronounced with each sip, as do the Brett and lactic acid cultures. At 5%, this is a refreshing session beer that pairs well with foods. Malts: Pilsen, Torrified Wheat Hops: Saaz

Kriek Mariage Parfait

Kriek Boon Mariage Parfait consists of 1 year-old heavy lambic flavoured with overripe cherries, 400 grams per litre. Longer aging in small oak barrels gives it its special flavour. The lambic is bottled and stored in an air-conditioned room for six months of secondary fermentation. Kriek Mariage Parfait has an alcohol volume of 8%. It keeps for a minimum 20 years, and is ready to drink after about 2 years in the bottle. This is perfection in kriek beers. Try it and admit that it surpasses the best wine.

Krieky Bones (Batch 2)

Perhaps it was a way to motivate us into producing beer, or maybe it was a desperate hint at a Birthday gift. Either way, David Walker cornered us one day and asked for a sour cherry fermented beer for his 50th birthday. Nothing more was said, but we took note and the opportunity to create something new. On the occasion of David’s golden jubilee, we celebrate his mid-life mortality check with Walker’s Krieky Bones! This beer begins its life as a Flanders Red style beer aged eight months in a 2200 gallon French Oak Foeder, sour cherries were added and allowed a secondary fermentation. The aroma is of cherry pie complete with flavors of piecrust and spicy notes. Vienna malt notes give way to assertive acidity and firm carbonation to finish.

Kriophoros Bock

The Kriophoros Bock is a copper/brown bock that presents with a high malt character. There are subtle toasted/nut like aromas imparted from the Munich and Vienna malts used as the core of the malt bill. The malty sweetness of the beer is wonderfully balanced by the bitterness imparted by German noble hops. As is traditional with the style, the hop aroma and flavor is low. The beer is brewed with a clean German lager yeast and fermented at low temperatures to produce a beer that is low in ester character, while at same time producing a beer that finishes clean to allow the malt character to shine through.

Kris Kringle

Just in time for the holidays, November 18th marks the release of this year's McMenamins Traditional Yuletide Ale, Kris Kringle. The busy-as-elves McMenamins brewers have created another wonderful gift for your taste buds this holiday season. The 2011 version of Kris Kringle is a hearty and robust ale with a big and bold malt complexity as well as an intense and flavorful hop profile. This "winter warmer" highlights the rich, toasty, aromatic and chocolaty malt flavors as its very sturdy foundation. Generous amounts of four different hop varieties were added in five different additions that delivers a magnificent and massive hop assault. There's still some ginger and cinnamon added into the batch but the spices are a little more subdued than in years' past. McMenamins brewers hope you enjoy this years' version of our old Holiday favorite, Kris Kringle. It should pour concurrently with Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown. Happy Holidays and a Wonderful New Year!

Kristall Weizen

Literally "crystal wheat." A Kristall Weizen is a filtered pale Weissbier. It pours "crystal"-clear rather than yeast-hazey. Propeller Kristall Weizen is made with special Weizen yeast, German Noble hops and equal amounts of barley and wheat malts. Like its Hefeweizen counterpart, Kristall Weizen develops a richly-textured, firm, white head in the glass. Very light, spritzy-effervescent and refreshing on the palate, with creamy texture and gentle, lightly fruity character, it finishes with a touch of dryness. Propeller Kristall Weizen pairs well with summer heat and good times... Prost.

Kristie's Kryptonite

This is a Belgian Blonde Ale and a strong one at that. Our recipe incorporates plenty of Belgian 2 row malt and cane sugar to maximize the fermentables for the Belgian Abbey style yeast which yields an ABV above 8%, if you're not careful you'll end up like Superman when he's around a radioactive piece of his former home! BJCP guidelines describe this style as a moderate-strength golden ale that has a subtle Belgian complexity, slightly sweet flavor, and dry finish. As for the origin of the name, if you know or get a chance to meet the Brewmaster's wife, Kristie, ask her, but the name pretty much says it all, Kristie's Kryptonite!

Krohnies Bliss Kolsch

For those of you accustomed to American light-lagers, here’s a tasty upgrade. A crisp, grainy, light-bodied golden ale with a delicate white head. Originally brewed in Cologne (Köln), Germany. Gulp it down for refreshment, or savour its subtle fruitiness, soft malty flavours, floral and black peppery hops, and smooth mouthfeel, with perhaps the faintest hint of mint. Somehow exotic and familiar. For light lager drinkers and connoisseurs.
