Renegade Red DIPA

This Double IPA first differentiates itself from most DIPAs with its deep red color. The flavor profile then sets this beer further apart from other DIPAs as grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruit, and a nice malt character back up and balance out the lingering hops and solid bitterness that is more characteristic of this style. The alcohol is undeniably present, but not overpowering.

ReplicAle 2011

our entry for Brewers of Indiana Guild 2011 Winterfest is a historical recreation of a famous New Albany beer, Ackerman's Imperial Double Stout, which was originally brewed once a year at Easter as a treat for the brewery's customers and as a substitute for Doppelbock, traditionally served during lent. The official brewery name was Southern Indiana Ice and Beverage Company, but was locally known as Ackerman's Brewery. Brands included Amsterdamer Bock, Ackermans, Great Eagle, Royal Munich, Vienna Select, Old Rip, Imperial Double Stout, India Pale Ale, and Daniel Boone. The brewery, unable to make a profit in a competitive city, closed on November 15, 1935.

Replicale Pale Ale

We are part of Illinois Craft Brewers Guilds’ Replicale project. Every year at least a dozen breweries brew the same recipe. This year it is an American Pale Ale. Every participating brewery used a different single variety of hop. Crown Brewing used all Horizon hops in making this wonderful brew. It has a pronounced nose and palate of somewhat sweet orange hops. Enjoy while you can!

Reporter

A tribute to the traditional English Porter beers, London harbour porters’ favourite drink in the nineteenth century. It has a dark, almost black color, with a persisting cappuccino-hued foam. The nose is strong, rich with aromas that bring to memory old fashioned roasted coffee, bitter cocoa, liquorice and rhubarb. In the mouth it comes smooth, creamy and coating, confirming the roasted notes, with a robust body and a long lasting finsh.

Reposé

Inspired by the dusty, hay-filled stone barns of the Nord de France that likely gave way to the rise of Bière de Garde, we included a small portion of hay in the mash for this beer. Taking a further cue from the slow and steady winter fermentation of the style, we allowed Reposé to rest in brandy barrels for almost a year. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, and 100% bottle-conditioned.

Reserve Chenin Blanc & Viognier

Calicraft Reserve is a new type of beverage. Neither beer nor wine, this Sparkling Ale pushes the boundaries. California Chenin Blanc and Viognier white wine grapes bring wine-like flavors and acidity while California grown malt adds a subtle nuttiness similar to champagne. Aromas of nectarine, pear, and quince are backed by bright lemon. Break the rules. Calicraft Reserve is beer meets wine.
