Small IPA

"SMALL" IPA: Brewed from the second runnings of our Moon Dog Barley Wine (due Jan 29th for Winterfest). It is unusual for a "small beer" to be brewed in the IPA style, but that's how we do it at Big Dog's. This tasty beer is an American-style IPA hopped with Centennial and whole-cone Amarillo in the serving tank. 7.0% ABV

Small Stout

A special release for St. Patty's Day. Brewed in the traditional "small beer" style made from the second runnings of our massive Imperial Stout Pugachev's Cobra. Small beers are a practice that dates back hundreds of years to monastic brewing traditions. In those days, brewers would make a large strong beer for the King or Abbot and then smaller beers for the regular citizens or monks. Our Small Stout is an American-style dry stout. Roast barley character blends with hints of chocolate and espresso. The beer finishes crisp and dry accentuated by a nice hop character. At 4.8% ABV, this is a great session beer for your St. Patty's Day celebration. We like to serve our Small Stout "Nitro" style. This involves using a blend of Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide gas and pouring the beer through a specially designed "Stout Tap." We also use Nitrogen gas to condition the beer. Beer served in this way presents a beautiful cascading bubble effect and a dense, white head as it is poured. This is due to the Nitrogen being less soluble in liquid and coming out of solution quickly. The finished result creates a creamy texture and a velvety mouthfeel that we think takes this beer to the next level.

Smash & Grab IPA

This single malt and single hop IPA presents a bright citrus nose from Citra hops, followed by a strong backbone of pale ale on Two Row malt. There is enough bitterness to know you're drinking an IPA, but the malt balance lends a nice drinkability.

SMaSH Ale - Citra

Our first SMaSH Ale used time-honored Willamette hops. This time, we merged old-world, Austrian tradition with radical, American ingenuity, and brewed a stripped-down, single-malt and single-hop ale with Vienna malt and Citra hops. SMaSH Ale–Citra pours soft gold with a rocky white head, loosing tangerine, pineapple and lychee hop aromas. The Vienna malt makes SMaSH Ale immediately sweet up front with slight caramel notes, and lingering biscuit flavor with a medium-light body. Easy-drinking with a satisfying, sweet citrus character, it’s the best of both worlds.

SMaSH Belgian Pale Ale

This Belgian Pale Ale is golden and bright with a frothy head. Light lemon and citrus on the nose leads to lemony bitterness on the palate. Balanced and smooth, with fine carbonation. Sandi’s signature: Belgian yeast adds fruitiness to this single malt, single hop pale ale.

SMaSH Pale Ale

Each year, as part of the Oak Park Micro Brew Review, we and 50 other Illinois breweries brew the same base beer recipe with the option to somehow make it our own. This year, we were asked to brew an American Pale Ale with a single malt and single hop to show off some of the world’s most unique hop varieties. Our version of this SMASH beer is brewed with all pilsner malts and Summit hops. The result is a beer with a clean, soft, lightly sweetened malt backing that allows the Summit hops to shine by giving off big notes of pink grapefruit and tangerine.

SMaSH'd ARMADILLO

Currently only brewed for festivals, this is an American Pale Ale brewed with Munich 6-Row malt and Cascade hops. SMaSHed beers are brewed with a single malt (sm) and single hop (sh), which gives them their name. They are increasingly popular with home brewers and, since that is how we started, we thought it would be a great way to develop a session beer that reflects our own origin. Somewhat light-bodied with a slight malty flavor, this pale ale is refreshing and crisp. An excellent choice for the hot Oklahoma summer days.

Smashed Blueberry

Smashed Blueberry is the newest beer in Shipyard Brewing Company’s Pugsley’s Signature Series line. This beer is a hybrid between a Porter and a Scotch Ale and has a rich mouth feel and a body of complex intensity. Upfront, there are distinct flavors of coffee and chocolate beautifully accentuated by the aroma of fresh blueberries. The finish features a delicate balance of sweet fruit and dry hops. This beer pairs well with glazed duck, ribs, barbeque, chocolate, and blueberry deserts. To fully experience all the flavors, Smashed Blueberry is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Smelters Stout

Mmmmm... stout. If you don't know why they call it "stout", that's because you haven't tasted it. I make a couple of different stouts, each with its own dash of dark brilliance to make it unique. The rumor is, you know it's ready when a chopstick will stand upright in a pint. Of course, that's not true, I use a regular spoon.

Smitten Golden Rye Ale

Drawn from one of our oldest recipes, Smitten Ale began as part of a series of rye beers at our Eccentric Café. The combination of sharp citrus & resinous flavors from the hops with the earthy, rustic overtones of the rye malt contribution yield an interesting take on the American Pale Ale.
