I have crafted this very special ale from the finest Challenger and Northdown hops, Maris Otter malted barley, and of course, our unique yeast, to create a truly extraordinary limited edition brew. Individually packed and numbered, this bottle is one of only one hundred and forty-five thousand produced.

We never know what will inspire our brewmaster, Keith Villa, next. For our limited-edition Vintage Blonde, it just happened to be a grape from California and a 27-year after-work hobby. Keith has an obvious passion for brewing beer. That goes without saying. But he also has a little-known passion for wine-making. In 1995, while he was crushing grapes and thinking back to his travels through California and French wine country, the idea of blending a beer with a wine popped into his head. Intrigued, he had to give it a shot. He started by using the juice of Chardonnay grapes to give the beer a crisp, light quality, very much like a glass of Chardonnay. He then used white wheat as the only grain to create a clean, smooth finish that could not be achieved with other malts. After cellar-aging the batch for a couple of months, he tasted his latest work. He was pleasantly surprised with the clarity and refreshing taste. In 2006, with wine and Craft beer growing in popularity with drinkers, he decided it would be a good time to bring it back. After a couple of years at festivals and special events, it started to gain a following. Then in 2010, it just happened to take home a gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival®. Knowing an ale this good should be shared, we distributed it in 2011 as Vintage Blonde Ale™. So now, after six years, Vintage Blonde Ale is released nationally for all to enjoy.

Our Big and Malty Scotch ale that has been aged in freshly emptied Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. This prolonged ageing gives this beer a unique Bourbon aroma and flavor with hints of vanilla and toffee from the oak.

This year’s Vintage Nun is a blend of our wit, which spent two years aging in red wine oak barrels. A portion of the barrels were spontaneously fermented. The result is a tart, well balanced, refreshing ale, with notes of oak, red wine, unique barrel funk, and citrus fruit.

RODENBACH Vintage is the unique result of selection by our RODENBACH brew masters, the foeder after two years of maturation has produced the best beer 'best foeder of the year. " The label is always the number of foeder listed and the year marks the beginning of maturation. RODENBACH Vintage is 100% old stale beer, resulting in superior RODENBACH Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Our annual Winter Warmer Ale is our take on an English style old or stock ale traditionally brewed to beat the cold of Winter. Using a plethora of hop and malt variations, Vinter is rich and complex yet extremely drinkable. With a spicy hop flavor and a dry roasty finish, this beer is just the thing to keep ya cozy!

Vinyl sails in on her shining wings as the spinning sun returns. Vinyl is a deep amber-hued beer with a sweet, malty flavor, that creates a satisfyingly smooth experience.

This lovely wheat ale is fermented with blueberries from the Blueberry Patch, just up the road in Sawyer. It is as blue and sweet as Violet herself (in other words: quite blue but not at all sweet!).

A geographical approach to the werewolf legends results in the identification of a major werewolf area stretching from mid-Germany into the Netherlands and Belgium. With this in mind, we have created a strong, dark, spiced using ingredients from those regions. Brewed with Midnight Wheat, warming spices, and a hint of brown sugar, the Violin Monster is black as night and packs a punch at 9.5%. Unleash your inner beast with Violin Monster Dark Ale, but beware…. it finishes with a bite! For centuries the Violin Monster has traversed the world howling his curse at an unforgiving moon. CHARLESTON, S.C. — Virgil Kaine Ginger Infused Bourbon, together with River Dog Brewing Co., announced the launch of a collaborative craft microbrew, Virgil’s Boxcar Saison. This new beer will make its official debut as part of Virgil Kaine’s prominent presence at the highly anticipated Music to Your Mouth culinary festival, Nov. 18-23, at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, S.C. David Szlam, creator of Charleston-based Virgil Kaine spirits, worked closely with Dan Baker, brewmaster at River Dog Brewing Co. in Ridgeland, S.C., to craft a saison like no other. The process began with a selection of pale, biscuit and Vienna malts from Belgium combined with sterling hops, French saison yeast and more than 100 pounds of Belgian candy sugar. During fermentation, Virgil Kaine Ginger Infused Bourbon bill — a mash of corn, rye and malt macerated with fresh yellow Hawaiian ginger grown locally on Johns Island — was suspended in the beer tank. Finally, the saison will move to another tank to mature over oak spirals, where it will remain until its release at Music to Your Mouth’s ever-popular Culinary Festival Nov. 22.

A easy drinking ale, low in esters, balanced with enough hop character to accentuate the malt profile. The caramel malt pushes this beer closer to the golden side of the blonde spectrum. This is a great starting point if you are new to craft beers.

Like the early German immigrants to central Virginia (Germana), we use American wheat to produce an authentic unfiltered Hefeweizen beer. Enjoy banana ester production, phenols, and clove-like characteristics. This is the best hefe you’ve ever tried.

Our signature, hop-forward East Coast IPA is made by Virginians, for Virginians. VaIPA (or Virginia IPA) is brewed with 100% locally sourced Virginia pride and attitude to create a hoppy yet smooth finishing delight. The rock-solid pale and crystal malt bill and aggressive hop schedule of citrus and floral hops are in perfect harmony and deliver a clean, well-balanced, malty sweet and citrusy flavor. We also add late additions and dry hops to craft a prominent floral hop aroma that finishes the beer perfectly. VaIPA embodies the surging Virginia craft beer industry and is a beer we can all be proud to say is “made in Virginia.” Sic semper zythum!

The name Stingo, derived from a fashionable slang word in the 1700’s for a strong or old English ale, likely comes from the sharp or “stinging” flavor arising from this barrel-aged style of beer. Gigantic amounts of malt were split between two separate mashes, and then blended back into the kettle to provide an extremely solid backbone into which dark candi syrup and coconut sugar were intertwined. Virginia Stingo then spent nine months maturing in oak barrels that originally housed red wine from Virginia’s Horton Vineyards. The result is a big, boozy, yet balanced ale, meant to be sipped and savored like a fine red wine. Get Stung!

Viridis Lupulus is a celebration of the renewal of spring! This new seasonal “Spring Hop” brew will be released each year in spring / early summer. Each brew will feature a different selection of hops from year to year. Viridis Lupulus is unfiltered and bottle conditioned, packaged in a 750ml cork and cage bottle.
