7 Bells Passionfruit Gose

It’s a sign of where we’ve come to that release notes from breweries can include phrases such as “approx 2 passionfruit per can” and it seems perfectly normal. In the case of Green Beacon’s 7 Bells, a beer that’s been seen for some time on tap and has now graduated into tinnies, the fruit comes accompanied by Himalayan pink salt and lactobacillus, making it very much a beer for today. It’s also very much a beer for summer, joining the brewery’s excellent Wayfarer in bringing refreshment in spades. Indeed, if you’re someone who’s made peace with acidic tang in your beers then this will likely replace the Wayfarer as Green Beacon beer of choice when you’re after something to quench a thirst in a hurry. 7 Bells is in a hurry to deliver that slightly sour tang too – no one’s going to be complaining that they’ve reined in the kettle soured elements here – with the passionfruit and a balancing sweetness completing the picture in a beer that comes with the Brisbane brewery’s now trademark poise; so well judged, in fact, you might mistake it for a soft drink – and not just for its very purple cans.

En meget kraftig stout med brændte toner fra ristet bygmalt, røgmalt, kaffe, en smule krydderier og som prikken over i’et: en sjat rom og herefter lagret på egetræ. Denne øl må gerne gemmes flere år i et mørkt skab eller en kælder. Men den kan altså også drikkes nu. Køb en ekstra flaske og gem den til en særlig lejlighed om nogle år. Den vil udvikle sig som god vin – bare blive bedre og bedre i mange år. Drik den i vinglas til søde desserter, chokolade eller uden noget. English: We have brewed on this beer on a long time and we finally think it is a should. A very majestic stout with a hint of roasted barley malt, smoke malt, coffee, some spices and to top it all a drop of rum. The beer has been seasoned on oak wood. This beer can stored many years in a dark closet or cellar, but is also ready to drink when it leaves our brewery. Buy an extra bottle and stash it for a special occasion in some years. It will develop like a god wine- only get better and better by the years.

La Cura

La Cura (the cure), our March 2018 release, is a sour beer based on the old Aztec drink referred to as pulque. Pulque was created in Central Mexico and relied on the fermented sap of the maguey plant to create a tart, viscous, alcoholic beverage. Our interpretation contains agave nectar, with the addition of guava puree, which makes for a slightly sweet sour beer that is both flavorful and ultimately refreshing.
