Color Field

Color Field is an American wild farmhouse ale brewed with hibiscus, rose hips, and chamomile. Produced with a mixed culture fermentation, it pours a hazy pink color topped with a fluffy white head. Tart aromas of lemon, black pepper, and earthy, gently perfumed botanicals mingle with classic saison funk. The soft, refreshing acidity is balanced by a hint of floral sweetness. This beer is never boiled and never filtered.

Colorado Bastard IPA

In honor of this tradition of beer, not originally from USA, we called our IPA the Bastard. Then, because all of the Mu Board is from Colorado EXCEPT our internal “hop head”, Mr Franklin, we rounded out the name in his honor, the Colorado Bastard. Using a blend of citrusy hops that add to the earthy flavor of the oak, our IPA can come across skunkier than a West Coast IPA.

Colorado Native Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest began as a royal Bavarian wedding reception 205 years ago and is still celebrated annually worldwide. Now that's a party! Our Colorado Native Oktoberfest Lager is double-decoction brewed in our small copper kettle brew house that was imported from Germany in1973. We began our Oktoberfest with the finest Colorado Munich and Moravian two-row malts. We gently spiced it with Colorado Tettnanger and other special Colorado-grown hops, hand-picked by our brewers and friends from our own hop yards. Celebrate Oktoberfest Colorado style. This bold, copper Märzen will have you raising your steins to shout “Ein Prosit!"

Colorado Native Olathe Lager

Whether it’s fruits, vegetables, grains or hops, the fertile ground from Fruita to Palisade, down to Montrose, and from Paonia to Delta produces world class agriculture. “Home grown” is important to us. We’re the brewers that brew Colorado Native Lagers from ingredients grown only in Colorado. To celebrate the harvest season, we brewed this lager as a tip of the hat to those Colorado farmers who work the ground to feed us all. To provide the backbone for this German-style lager, we mashed in Charles two-row winter barley, Moravian two-row barley and world-renowned Olathe corn. We added Crystal and Nugget hops; grown in Olathe, within a mile of the barley and corn. By enjoying Colorado Native lagers, you are helping support the hop farmers and barley growers of Colorado. Colorado Native Saison

Saisons were originally farmhouse style ales produced in Wallonia, the French-speaking Southern area of Belgium. They were brewed by farmers in the winter, to last through the warmer summer months. These beers were intended to be provided to the farm workers. It is said that each worker was allowed up to five liters per day. Our Saison is brewed traditionally, as a toast to the Colorado farmers who provide us with the highest quality ingredients. Colorado white wheat and Pilsner malts are balanced with Western Slope hops and fermented with Belgian and French style yeasts from Colorado, to produce a light, fruity taste and a spicy aroma.

Colorado Native Winterfest

Everyone knows winter in Colorado is a wonderful time, especially around the holidays. The air seems crisper and the snow covers the landscaping like a natural gift wrapping. There’s just no other place like it. And that’s the feeling that inspired Colorado Native Winterfest. It’s our way of celebrating this special time of the year and toasting our friends in Colorado. We began brewing Colorado Native Winterfest back in September. We begin with our prized two-row barley, custom roasted to give the beer its rich, creamy flavor. Choice Colorado-grown hops are added to create the aroma and festive taste. After brewing, we chill-lager the beer to develop its distinctive taste and crisp, clean finish. Happy Holidays from all of us at the AC Golden Brewing Company. There are a lot of seasonal beers to choose from, but there’s only one that is brewed with 100% Colorado ingredients: barley grown in the San Luis Valley, Colorado-grown hops, Rocky Mountain water and the oldest variety of brewing yeast in the state. The majority of the barley and hops used to brew other Colorado beers comes from out-of-state. By using only Colorado-grown barley and hops we are supporting the Colorado agriculture community. Our bottles are made in Wheat Ridge, our cans are made in Golden and we do not sell our beer outside of the state: this adds up to a smaller carbon footprint and a great tasting all Colorado beer. Look for the Colorado Proud logo on the beer you buy.

COLOSSAL FOUR

The Fourth in the COLOSSAL Anniversary series is appropriately a Belgian-Style Quad. COLOSSAL FOUR is dark caramel in color. It is rich in flavor without being overwhelming sweet or bitter. It is a malty brew made with a special dark candy date sugar. It has a slight roast flavor and shows complex, dark fruit flavors of raisins, dates and cooked apples all mixed with a bit of chocolate.

Colossal One

Our anniversary is in the middle of winter; the darkest, coldest days in the Mid Atlantic. To celebrate our first anniversary, we brewed a very special, strong dark ale to warm us against the cold. Imperial Stout is an extra strong version of stout, which originally was brewed by the British to withstand the rigors of export. We used the West Malle Trappist yeast to give it a Belgian character. The beer shows aromas of bakers chocolate and dried fruits. It is rich, dark and strong, with flavors of espresso and dark swiss chocolate, spice and a touch of orange zest. Colossal Three

COLOSSAL THREE is a Heller Bock, also known as a Maibock. Heller Bocks are the palest and hoppiest of Bock style beers. Ours is a beautiful tawny color which comes from the Munich malt. We have chosen noble hop varieties that impart floral, spicy aromas and flavors. This lager beer was fermented cold and aged at 32 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 weeks. The long fermentation and aging process gives this strong beer a remarkably clean finish, for which our beers are known.

This Porter is a stronger, smoked version of our flagship Porter. It is dark brown, almost black in color, and has a smoky, roasted aroma and smooth, rich, complex smoke and chocolate flavors. Our Brewers and the Tasting Room crew teamed up to mill in by hand 5000 pounds of German beech wood smoked malt and 600 pounds of roasted malt. This was all done bag by bag over the course of an afternoon, truly a labor of love! GABF - 2013 Bronze - Smoke Beer

Colossus

High Gravity Hybrid. Size Does Matter! First brewed in 2006 (and again in 2011) to push the limits of our own skills and imagination, Colossus is dark amber in color and full-bodied with a perceptively sweet flavor profile accented by notes of apple, and a surprisingly tame alcohol presence on the palate in light of its staggering 21.92% abv. This astounding alcohol content (the highest ever brewed in the state of Maryland and verified by the Siebel Institute) is achieved through fermentation alone; no alcohol is introduced at packaging nor it distilled. Multiple grains are used in conjunction with three different yeast strains to produce a beer that simply defies classification… and most laws of nature. One sip of this behemoth brew and you’ll agree: Sometimes size does matter!

Coltrane Belgian Ale

The new release in the Serenade Series, this beer was inspired by the music of John Coltrane, the greatest jazz musician of all-time. Among other things, it was brewed with quinoa, raisins and rosemary. (The rosemary comes from Hembree Farm in Roswell, a small, local, organic farm where we take the spent grain left over from the brewing process to be composted.) It was fermented with a Belgian Trappist yeast which adds deep fruit notes and spicy flavors. The music of John Coltrane serenaded the yeast the entire six weeks the beer spent in the fermentation tank which made it extra funky!

Come and Take It

Not only do we favor beer names that double as commands, but ‘Come and Take It’ is best known as a battle cry from the American and Texas Revolutions signifying defiance against tyrants. What better way to show our Texas pride and defiance of beer tyrants than by crafting a flavorful beer in celebration of the Texas State Fair? We’ll release ‘Come and Take It’ throughout the fairgrounds on day one of the fair, Friday, September 25th and welcome all the usual north Texas suspects to tap it as well. Our Koslch serves as the basis for ‘Come and Take It’, but the similarities between the two beers end there due to an aggressive use of cascade hops that completely change this beer’s character. Although we’ve added nearly a pound and half of Cascade per barrel to a Tettnang hopped beer, the execution and manner of the Cascade addition in a cohesive and seamless manner is what ‘Come and Take It’ is all about. Tettnang imparts spicy and earthy characteristics while also subtly contributing fruity, floral, citrus notes; whereas Cascade is primarily classified as a fruity floral hop with a hint of spice. Emphasizing Tettnang early and Cascade hops late results in huge fruity citrus notes that dominate both Come and Take It’s aroma and flavor. The more you drink it, the more you’ll enjoy it. Weighing in at 5% ABV, we trust you’ll find this one refreshing beer. ‘Come and Take It’ pairs perfectly with fried foods made famous in Texas, winning big on the Midway, and sunny Saturdays at the Cotton Bowl. Enjoy.

Comeragh Challenger Bitter

Comeragh Challenger was first brewed for the Irish Craft Beer Festival which was held at the RDS in Dublin and after positive feedback was on tap again at festivals in Cork and Galway this year. Due to the positive reaction it received and thinking how ideal it would be as a summer tipple, Head Brewer Cormac O’Dwyer decided to release a bottled version as the ‘Brewer’s Select’ summer beer for 2012. Traditionally, English bitters are made with the very hard water profile which occurs at Burton-on-Trent, the home of brewing in England. In West Waterford, the hard water profile means flavours of the English bitter style can be replicated. Coupled with this, the beer is hopped solely with Challenger hops, an English hop used in many traditional bitters. At 3.8%, this is an easy-drinking beer that will be perfect for summer barbeque days!
