EKG Pale English inspired pale Ale

We took a detour from playing with American Pale Ales to cross the pond with an English inspired Pale Ale. Instead of dry hopping, copious amounts of East Kent Golding and Northern Brewer hops were added late in the kettle for a nuanced earthy hop character. Its modest malt character is countered by a noticeable dryness.

El Coco

El Coco is said to be a mythical creature, referred to by multiple cultures. While some cultures might view it as a monster underneath the bed, the Portuguese make use of the metaphor "Dar coca a alguem", which means to smother one with kindness and love. We have spent the better part of 2014 creating this beer, in conjunction with 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, as a display of Latin folklore and culinary culture. We implement spices, coconut, lactose and Dulce de Leche to create a concoction that we feel resembles coconut flan, a tropical interpretation of the classical Latin dessert. Buena apetit!

EL CUATRO

EL CUATRO is made of barley and caramel malts co-mingling with lactobacillus and brettanomyces. After brewing and conditioning, the beer is transferred into brandy & whiskey barrels to age for over a year during an extended Brettanomyces Lambicus fermentation. Prior to bottling, the beer is blended with a small portion of year-old SAHALIE. The only hops added to this beer arrive from the aged SAHALIE.
The brandy barrels and wild yeast fermentation give EL CUATRO a plum & cherry fruitiness balanced by the slight toast of the malt body.

El CuCuy

In Latin American cultures, El Cucuy is an imaginary creature of the dark, similar to the boogeyman, which haunts the minds of children and adults alike. El Cucuy India-style Black Ale features dark roasted notes that sneak up on the subdued caramel malt backbone and the irresistible bitterness creating a harmonious and frighteningly delicious balance. But beware, this beer is dry-hopped providing an intensely vibrant floral and citrusy aroma and at 8.6% abv is not a monster to be carelessly dealt with. Be good or the Cucuy will get you!

El Despierto Coffee Porter

In Early 2015, Busted Sandal Brewing decided to work on a project to develop a coffee porter that was unlike other coffee porters. Something with substance, where the craft of coffee brewing and the craft of beer brewing were perfectly matched into one delicious drink. After some research, we sought out and established a partnership with The Brown Coffee Company, in San Antonio, Texas. We quickly learned from Founder and “Coffee Hunter” Aaron Blanco that Brown is not just special, it is unique in its market. You see, Aaron sources his coffee beans for his craft roasting by establishing direct relationships with coffee farmers around the world. He travels to farms and stays with farmers, and regularly hosts them in San Antonio. He seeks out the best of the best coffees, understanding the unique environment and character of each coffee variety where it is grown, as well as which processing methods best suit which coffees, all in pursuit of the perfect cup. While Brown works diligently to be as transparent and “invisible” as possible in selecting, roasting and serving their coffees, when it comes to our El Despierto Coffee Porter, it is anything but invisible. The coffee in El Despierto comes from the Madan Estate in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. It is a huge coffee with a deep, spicy, tobacco leaf sweetness that converges perfectly with our beer to create something special. Unique. El Despierto is an amazing beer with amazing ingredients that we are sure you will love.

El Dorado Pale Ale

El Dorado Pale Ale is a limited release offering that uses El Dorado hops. We used the hops in the boil and also dry hopped for a full week. The aroma of this brew is all tropical fruit with a nice balanced flavor. The bitterness is subdued by the flavor of the hop itself. The body is nice and thin, perfect for a day out on the boat fishing or playing some golf. Instead of making all big, high gravity beers during winter, we wanted to make a lighter brew with great flavor and aroma for the Miami weather.
