Moog synthesizers asked us to brew a special beer to be the official ale of the 2014 Moogfest. We wanted to create something as unique as their product so we thought we would do a Chocolate IPA. We brewed with 50lbs of French Broad Chocolate Factory cocoa nibs, but we didn’t stop there… the Moog people sent us the wood of an actual Moog synthesizer and we aged this beer on it. This woody, chocolaty, hopped up Double IPA is awesome, just like Moog!

Peanut Butter Porter

Pitch black body with a thick, mocha colored head. Luxurious, rich espresso in the nose with dark chocolate barely poking out. Sweet oats act as a blanket to nurture an abundance of roasted coffee, dark and milk chocolate and hints of roasted barley. A full body with enough strength to battle any robust stout.

We made this beer in collaboration with Madcap Coffee Company and it uses their phenomenal SIX ONE SIX blend to bring huge coffee aromatics to this foeder-fermented brew. It's rich and vibrant, but lighter in color than most coffee beers. It's also just a bit tart to lend to it's overall complexity.
