This month’s event will feature the release of a new beer, Prime Minister, an English strong ale. Not many examples of the style are available, especially locally, which is why we chose to brew it. Consistent with our basic brewing philosophy, the mission for the Prime Minister is to provide north Texas with an exceptional example of the style, which may not be too familiar. Prime Minister appears dark orange with complex fruity esters contributing to the aroma. Its medium bodied with a malty/caramelly sweetness. Hop flavor is present and bitterness is light, but evident and balanced with the malt flavors present. Fruity-ester flavors add to the character of this rich, somewhat sweet and complex beer. As with many of our beers, this one’s name comes with history. Naming a beer isn’t easy. Iron Lady seemed the perfect fit for an English strong due to the Margaret Thatcher reference. However, our friends in Fort Worth, Martin House and Rahr, brew Iron Joe/Thistle and Salty Lady, and Iron Lady seemed too close for comfort. We settled on The Governor earlier in the year, but as the release date grew closer, we continued to conjure up hundreds of potential names. The brewers dubbed it Large Marge (a nod to Margaret Thatcher, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, and PW’s Big Adventure), but the strong Prime Minister ultimately won out. The beer has one last super secret alias, but you’ll have to ask Grayson about that one. We released Prime Minister at our brewery on September 22, 2016. Proper Baking Co. joined us and served up traditional English fare. We also handed out glassware to commemorate the event.

Constituting a beginning; giving origin to something derived or developed; original.” Need we say more? True to its Imperial roots! This brew clocks in at 9.5% ABV, and over 100 IBUs! It is made with four varieties of grains resulting in a bold dark amber color and four varieties of hops, creating a subtle citrus aroma, and bitter, hoppy finish. Winner of a gold medal at the 2009 Santa Cruz National Organic Challenge, this recipe surely will not disappoint.

The very first beer brewed at Original Gravity Brewing Company. Primordial Porter is a full flavored Robust style Porter. Almost black in color with a complex malt profile that exhibits a smooth balance between chocolate, coffee and roasted flavors.

Belgian Blonde. Lovely light flavors from a nice malt base are accentuated by Belgian yeast and rye, complemented by a nice finish.

Prince of Denmark is a strong, dark beer of great complexity and depth. It is based on traditional recipes from the 18th Century but has also been described as an 'Imperial Stout Nouveau'. Brown, amber and black malts are mixed with pale ale malts to give this beer its strong aroma and colouring. Tasting notes: A complex beer with aromas of leather, chocolate and liquorice, with a lingering taste.

Our Tripel is a delightful spin on the monastic tripel ale. Three different grains combine with three different hops to create a delightful balance of floral hops, lightly sweet malt, spice, and hints of citrus fruits. It is medium bodied with a lightly sweet finish and a hint of warmth. ​A zesty flavor rich ale.

Princess Yum Yum is a sparkly beauty. Brewed as a German style Kölsch and fermented with real raspberries, she has the color and clarity of a ruby.

Our house porter. Crisp, smooth and refreshing. Deep in color with a clarity unmatched by many of the other porters out there. A cola flavor followed by a smooth caramel finish. Simcoe hops for a mellow, bitter edge.

This Bohemian Pilsner pays tribute to our ancestor Priscilla Mullins. She was one of the few women on board the Mayflower who survived the journey and the harsh first winter. She was later immortalized as the unrequited love of Miles Standish and eventual wife of John Alden in the 1858 poem ‘The Courtship of Miles Standish’ by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. “Priscilla is brewed in the traditional Bohemian Pilsner Style. It is a light and crisp lager, brewed entirely with floor malted Bohemian pilsner, a light and bready malt,” says Ryan Gwozdz, Head Brewer. “The wort was generously hopped entirely with Saaz, contributing a crisp bitterness and a spicy slightly floral aroma. The water in Plymouth is very soft, which is imperative when brewing this delicate style. We think you will have a hard time having just one pint of this incredibly refreshing beer.”

The first of our employee brewed beers. An easy to drink pilsner that is crisp and slightly tart with a moderate yet refined hop nose. Aromatic maltiness with a hint of sweet but surprisingly dry and drinkable. An enjoyable linger of bitterness to compliment the mellow pilsner malt and hint of tart character.

Deep copper color, citrus and pine aroma, fruity hop flavor, dry body.

Matured for 12 months in wooden casks. It is reddish in color with hops and apple fruit on the nose, spicy and malty in the mouth, and a dry, even tart fruity finish with hints of raisins and apple. The slow work of the yeast in the bottle may increase the alcohol content to 12% or even more. After several years of aging Prize Old Ale gains a more complex palate with Calvados like character. It is said that Prize Old Ale is at its best after 20 years of maturing. Bottled as Milestones Pale Ale to celebrate the opening of the Milestones Museum. Ingredients: Maris Otter and minute amounts of black malt and brewing sugar; Fuggles, Goldings and Challenger.

Imperial Porter – Robust porter with coffee and vanilla that’s been aged on oak and bourbon. The legal system is extraordinarily complex and can be quite daunting to the uninitiated. Pro Bono work is legal counsel given freely to the most disadvantaged parts of the community because everyone deserves to have their rights protected. It’s good to volunteer your professional abilities from time to time to help out those in need. But don’t be confused by this Imperial Porter. It’s no ordinary exercise in social activism. Its robust flavor comes from being aged on oak, vanilla and bourbon. Pro Bono Porter is for the people who need it most, and that makes it justice for the masses.
