Shiny Happy Pilsner

An extra strong pilsner at 7.9% abv, but retaining it’s light color and crisp lager character. Generously hopped with Czech Saaz hops, balancing the copius amount of German pilsner malt. This beer could be accurately classified and "uber-pils" or "spring bock", but we just think it’s just happy.

Shiny New Toy

This copper lager was built freestyle from grain to hops and aged on American white oak, which is known for its rich, aromatic character and vanilla flavors. We released it for the first time just after Christmas 2012 – our first beer aged on wood and not in a barrel previously used for spirits. The result is a unique balance of hop flavor and bitterness – a real favorite in the Tap Room.

Ship Wreck

Four months ago, Ballast Point took the money and ran as they sold out to a Mexican distributor and left the ranks of craft beer behind them. As a result, we are not ordering any more of their beer for our bars – but we had a collaboration beer ageing in our Ellon brewhouse. We are not about to pour away the hard labours of our brewteam based on the misguided decisions of others, so Ship Wreck will be a 13.8% redacted collaboration strong ale, aged in Speyside and Islay casks.

Made by Kelly Ryan from Good George Beer in NZ, Brett Ellis (originally from the US) from the Wild Beer Co, and Mark Tranter from Burning Sky Brewery. This beer explores new ideas, techniques, ingredients, combinations and processes. Using all three brewers combined knowledge and experiences to create an incredibly unusual and complex beer, this utilises every opportunity to take advantage of amazing ingredients and try alternative techniques. Full body, gentle-sweet spiciness, a dry depth with oak undertones, and tropical fruit character, all finished off with tangy Hibiscus flowers – this is one shnoodlepippin beer!
