Our holiday Iowa seasonal will make you feel right at home. A deep Black Walnut aroma with a hint of alcohol precedes this dry, nut brown ale. A medium black walnut flavor rolls and lingers with mild malts along for the ride. Crisp, deep and ready for winter, this limited seasonal with 100 pounds of local black walnuts is sure to get you in a holiday mood!

Apple Reserve is our estate-grown cyser, made with over 40 hand-picked heirloom and modern Apple varieties. Each variety is selected and custom grafted to the Schramm apple trees in order to create a perfect balance of sweetness, aromatics, flavor, mouthfeel and acidity.

Deep chocolate and coffee via dark roasted malts

Schramm’s Black Heart is nearly opaque in color, made with black raspberries and premium honey. Drier than most of our melomels, the distinctly acidic, tannic and earthy character of black raspberries make this mead a prime candidate for pairings with sharp cheeses, creamy desserts and well-marbled, dry rubbed meats. This mead will age well for many years.

Our tribute to the Southern Appalachia skier, Denim Downhiller is warm and toasty with earthy and floral notes from Willamette and Mt. Hood hops. Highly sessionable, this is a winter ale that promises to go down fast!

Our Elderberry mead is yet another classic example of the Schramm style of fruit meads. This mead is full of pure Elderberry aromatics and flavor with notes of treacle, dark Japanese plum and earthy dark fruit blended with premium honey sweetness.

Our Heather honey traditional mead explodes with Scottish Heather honey, known for it’s incredibly vibrant aromatics and flavors, which bear a strong resemblance to those of Scotch Whisky. It is among the dearest of honeys, fetching high prices for it’s mesmerizingly fruity, woody and complex nature. The honey and the mead can both be accurately described as boldly perfumed, uninhibited and resplendent.

An easy-drinking India Pale Ale, made with Citra and Mosaic hops that lend a citrus and grapefruit aroma to an already well-balanced lighter bodied beer.

Schramm’s Madeline is our boysenberry mead, made with whole boysenberries and Michigan honey. A cross between European raspberry, common blackberry and American dewberry, the boysenberry has a unique tannic flavor which combines wonderfully with carefully selected premium honey. The resulting mead is thick, jammy and extremely flavorful and pours dark purple with a very smooth, lightly tart finish. This mead is a tribute to our favorite, tiny release to date, Madeline June Schramm Naeger. Ten percent of sales of this mead are donated to the Royal Oak Beaumont NICU, where Madeline spent nearly the first three months of her life. She was beautiful when she was born, but we know she will continue to mature beautifully with age.

The Peach is the first mead that meets our critics’ comments that “the fruit is delicious, but I don’t get the honey clearly.” The Peach is honey-forward, showcasing Tom Reed’s delicious Northern Michigan Wildflower honey, and letting the fruit sing the harmony instead of the melody. If you are looking for a Raspberry Mead-like fruit thump over the taste buds, this mead marches to a different drummer. Distinct caramel notes and a brandied honey and vanilla aromatic have brought another local mead (which will remain unnamed) to mind for a couple of tasters who got a sneak peak. Medium to full body, and yes, it does pair well with fish dishes, as the label notes. This mead is a locavore’s dream, made in Michigan with Michigan peaches and Michigan honey. I want to have a bottle with some whitefish or walleye, Michigan potato salad, local corn and a cherry pie to fill out the bill.
