Yuzu Bozu

We were asked by our friend Matt to brew a weird beer for the opening of his new bar Moon Under Water here in Christchurch. Well, we did, and its glorious! An unfiltered lager with Yuzu and lemon juice. Crisp, sour, and refreshing!

Act of Faith Tripel

With a nod to this style’s monastic roots as well as its namesake trail in Cameron Park, the Act of Faith is an experience you won’t soon forget. Our Belgian style tripel is lightly colored and highly aromatic with spicy, fruity, and herbal notes. Its medium-bodied with a smooth, warming finish that barely betrays its deceptively high (8.5% ABV) alcohol content. The Act of Faith’s complexity is a sure reward for the willing.

Bumaye

Sometimes - OK, rather often, actually - I find myself asking, “How far can we take it?” Keeping in mind that flavour should be the main objective at all times, the conception of Bumaye was one of those moments. To make it we started out with the baddest imperial stout we have ever brewed, and then added loads of tasty sugars to the fermenter for extra flavour. To smooth out the roughness, we allowed the beer to mellow in Pinot Noir barrels for 3 and a half years. - Let’s rumble!

Coeur De Cerise

Coeur de Cerise is a sour cherry and lavender Saison brewed as a collaboration between W&W and Oamaru's Craftwork. The lavender came from W&W brewer Llew's garden in Wellington, while Lee-Ann from Craftwork provided the cherries. The name comes from the fact that a relatively small quantity of cherries (5kg in 200L of beer) were used, but the beer was left on them for several weeks, thus giving them little cherry colour or fruit flavour, but definite marzipan-y notes that come from the cherry pits. Bottled versions are bottle conditioned with Brettanomyces Clausenii.

Devil's Teeth (Coffee Added)

Devil’s Teeth is a hybrid of an Old Ale and an Imperial Stout, two English beer styles designed to withstand long voyages and dark winters. It brings rich maltiness & robust roastiness in a thick, tongue-coating, aggressively flavorful package. To this chewy mix of old world beasts, we brought a massive dose of our house roasted Black House Blend coffee, a complimentary mix of blueberry-forward Ethiopian and chocolate-forward Sumatran coffees.

Faux German

Faux German is a beer of collaboration, creativity and balance. This beer/wine hybrid is 50% Belgian Tripel from Craftwork and 50% Gewurtztraminer from Waitaki Valley's Kurow Winery that is fermented with Champagne yeast. The beer is also wet hopped with hop cones grown on the Winery's property, then dry-hopped further after fermentation. This beer/wine hybrid is complex display of the grape and grain, and Craftwork recommend enjoying this one as a desert drink.

Grand Cru Red

An Imperial sour red ale brewed with grapes, raspberries and vanilla beans, aged in red wine barrels. Grand Cru Red blends a Flanders Red-style sour ale with California red wine grapes, locally grown raspberries and whole vanilla beans to craft something truly unique. We combined lush Zinfandel grapes with a special imperial version of our oak-aged Dogpatch Sour ale and finished it with Santa Cruz Mountain raspberries and fragrant vanilla beans. Tannic red wine notes mingle with complex sour yeast flavors and French oak barrel character to create an exceptionally original new brew. Pair with rich and savory beef, venison or duck dishes and enjoy on very special occasions.

Grand Cru White

An Imperial sour blonde ale brewed with muscat grapes and apricots, aged in white wine barrels Grand Cru White is an ode to our favorite aromatic white wines. We combined California Muscat Blanc grapes with an imperial version of our Farmer’s Reserve sour blonde base and fresh, locally-grown apricots before aging them for over a year in French oak barrels. The result is a deeply fragrant hybrid that captures the Northern California terroir and seamlessly melds the complex tartness of a Belgian-inspired sour ale with the sun-ripened boldness of white wine grapes. Serve this very limited release alongside fresh raw oysters, steamed mussels and pair with decadent celebrations.
