Hazel's Taproot Ale

It doesn't get much more local than this! Brewed with beets grown right here in Lynn and named after the farmer who grew them, Hazel's Taproot Ale was made using 2-row barley, wheat, buckwheat and three different varieties of beets: Touchstone (yellow), Ace (red), and Chioggia (red and white). Notes of earth and spice are supported by a soft floral aroma from US Golding hops. Special thanks to Hazel and the Lynn Food Project. Support your local farmer!

HBC 342 - Hop Essence Series

HBC 342 is an experimental hop from Select Botanicals and Hop Breeding Company in Washington. These are the good people who brought us Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, and many more. While there is not much information on the lineage of 342, rumor has it this hop was the parent of Mosaic. This beer was brewed in the style of a White IPA. Four orange varieties and South African Rooibos create citrus flavors galore. This blends nicely with the watermelon flavors of the HBC 342. Coriander seed is also added to provide a sublte spiciness.

HBS Stout

Our collaborative effort for 2014’s GABF Pro-Am competition, this Smoked Irish Dry Stout was a category winner and Best of Show finalist for War of the Worts XIX (2014), brewed by Mike Dietz and Ryan Wilson from the Keystone Hops homebrewing club. This 3.8% ABV stout has the creamy mouthfeel, and roasted barley, chocolate, and coffee notes you’d come to expect from an Irish Dry Stout with the added complexity of smokiness from the use of peat smoked English malt. Don’t let the color fool you though; you can drink this stout for days, and at such an easy drinking ABV we think you just might try.

HC-100

It’s hard for us to believe, but we reached our 100th batch of beer with HC-100, right on the heels of our first anniversary. 100 is a nice round number, so we opted to use 100lbs of hops throughout the brewing process of this batch, equating to about 7 pounds per barrel. The malt bill is no slouch, nor could it be at 10%, but this beer is defined by its aggressive hop character from start to finish.

HD Pale Ale

A pale ale for our friends in “Hail Dale”. This brew has all the great aspects of a pale ale; citrus, tropical fruit and grassy hop character goes great with the smooth body. The oak spirals used, add a unique complexity of vanilla and oakyness that goes well with the hop character. A “Rockin’ Pale Ale”! Notable Ingredients: Grist: Pale Malt: Base Malt Crystal Malt: Sweet caramel notes along with helping with the color. Hops: Falconers 7Cs: Tropical fruit notes along with classic grapefruit citrus character Azacca: Tropical fruits. Notes of pineapples, mangos and guava.Cascade: Classic American hop. Very piney, slightly grassy. Chinook: Great notes of grapefruit in this classic hop.

He'Brew Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Shmaltz Brewing Co. is proud to introduce Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A. Brewed with an obscene amount of malts and hops. Shocking flavors - far beyond contemporary community standards. We cooked up the straight dope for the growing minions of our nation's Radical Beer junkies. This rye-based double IPA comes across earthy and spicy with a wonderful, rich malt/hop balance. Very full-bodied and beautifully constructed. The memorial playbill read: "Yes we killed him. Because he picked on the wrong god. Directed by the Courts the Cops the Church... and his own self-destructive super ego. Like Noah lying naked and loaded in his tent after the apocalyptic deluge: a witness a patron saint a father of what was to come.
