Nomad is our spin on the classic Bohemian Pilsner style. The journey starts with German malts and Saaz hops that offer a lively floral nose and crispness, while a full 5 weeks of lagering time ensures that Nomad is eminently balanced. This Nomad may wander, but it's got some serious roots.

An absolute bruiser of an IPA; Nomadic pushes its style limits with a well hidden 7.5% ABV and enough bitterness to balance out its weight without abusing your palate. First sniff and the huge pineapple and papaya notes jump out at you, only to be followed up immediately with a pungent kick of freshly harvested buds, finishing with a beautiful balance between the tropical and the dank. Mild aromatic malt character is consistent start to finish, aiding in balancing out this potent beast.

Dubbel is a beer style developed by Belgian Trappists in the Middle Ages, part of a naming convention that also includes the lighter single and stronger trippel. All well and good, you say, but what's this “Nommo” business? Well, the Nommo are ancestral spirits worshipped by the Dogon tribe of the West African nation of Mali. The name is derived from a Dogon word meaning “to make one drink.” No, really. Nommo usually described as amphibious, hermaphroditic, fish-like creatures, were created by the sky god Amma, who caused them to multiply by splitting them into doubled sets of twins. Seeing a trend here? Maybe it's farfetched, but we think the story of the Nommo makes this whole enterprise a little more fun and interesting.

Cream Ale with Apple

Black IPA doesn’t quite seem to make sense, does it? How can something that’s black also be described as pale? Noonan is our interpretation of a New England original, the Black IPA. Dark like a porter, but hoppy like an IPA, this seemingly contradictory beer style originated in 1994, in Burlington, Vermont by brewer Glenn Walters and under the watchful eye of Greg Noonan. Greg was many things, a brewing pioneer and author, founder of three brewpubs, 2005 Russell Scherer award winner and genealogist. When Greg passed away suddenly, Smuttynose’s brewing team wanted to brew a beer in his memory and this was the result. We hope you find it a worthy tribute as well. Noonan (the beer) looks like an ordinary porter or stout, until you get the pint up to your nose. You can’t avoid the big whiff of piney, herbal and citrusy American hops, but there’s virtually no roasted character. Ponderous, huh? When you take a sip, you’ll notice that the beer doesn’t taste a lot like a porter either. Instead of the expected astringency imparted by dark grains, you’ll find a depth of caramel malts and more American hops. Don’t worry that’s by design; it’s also what we love about the beer.

A crisp, hoppy take on the original session beer. Gather your friends, pack the gear, and head out to wherever the day may take you. A midday go-to, Nooner is our take on the classic German-style pilsner—one of the original session beers. Nooner is easy drinking yet packed with the big flavor of spicy and floral whole-cone hops. Its brilliant golden color begs you to take a sip and sink your taste buds into an extremely welcoming beer, full of flavor and balanced by a crisp, dry finish.

This is the only beer in which besides malt and hops are also added herbs. Peter our brewer has been able to form a good picture of how this specialty is brewed with our southern neighbors during his internship. This triple consists of 4 cereals, barley, oats, rye and wheat. Where barley causes the malting, rye causes the body and cream and the oats and wheat for the fresh test in the beer. Malt: Pilsener malt, Rye malt, Wheat malt, Pale aloe malt, Oatmeal Hop: Nugget, Saaz, Hallertau Mittelfruh.

Part of the native species collection. This is a white wheat beer fermented with hefeweizen yeast infused with the juice of the prickly pear (nopalito). It is slightly pink in color with large fruit and bubble gum aroma. A great beer for beer cocktails, beer floats, and relaxing in the hot sun.

This is a truly unique brew, combining some unusual elements to create a powerful, yet flavorful brew. I brewed a similar beer to this one back in 1998, while I was home brewing out in California. Only this time around I decided to age it in bourbon barrels to add a new element to the already rich sensory profile. The combination of dark malt, elderberries and bourbon barrels makes for an interesting tasting experience. This is a sippin’ beer, so sit back by the fire and enjoy. 12% alcohol by volume. Enjoy in a snifter. Overripe fruit, vinous, vanilla, roasted grain and coffee are a few of the characters you will taste with this monster. The hops fade away as the flavors of the elderberries and oak dominate the profile.

She refers to the ancient history of nomads and pyramids of spices and Kamut ® Khorasan that in the Egyptian language meaning "soul of the earth." Its warm color, orange amber, was covered with an abundant foam that releases notes of oriental aromas, ginger and citrus.
